Sabio Coding Bootcamp<\/a> has come a long way since its inception in 2013. What started as an initiative to \u2018mentor\u2019 the next generations of innovators is now a leading school in tech, boasting an 80% success rate<\/a> and producing over 800 professional software developers. Today, Sabio stands tall among other coding education providers in the U.S., with a track record that speaks volumes of its repute. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In its efforts to promote inclusion and diversity in the tech sphere, the school has launched various plans that are meant to empower tech enthusiasts, especially those from underrepresented groups. These include Sabio\u2019s Women in Software Engineering<\/a> and Military Veterans in Tech initiatives.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this article, we are going to take a closer look at the latter\u2014a campaign that aims to serve those who have served the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sabio and Veterans in Tech<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The school was one of the first bootcamps in California to ever accept the GI Bill for Military Veterans and or Military-Connected Individuals<\/a> in 2018, after two years of discussions with the California State Approving Agency for Veterans Education (CSAAVE), a part of the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) that operates under the authority of the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative allowed veterans with strong interests in tech to explore a career path that otherwise would have been difficult to pursue due to the lack of alternative resources and relevant networks. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this announcement, select veterans were able to use their benefits to enroll in Sabio\u2019s Full Stack Web Development Training Program and were also eligible to receive a Basic Allowance For Housing based on its Culver City main campus address. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSabio\u2019s the only coding bootcamp in California that has survived the bureaucratic hurdles required to work with the VA. It says something about our commitment to veterans and to military-connected individuals that we would dedicate time and resources to this effort.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor veterans that do not have 100% benefits, we collaborate with a couple of different nonprofits to help meet your funding gap. We also are willing to work with Voc Rehab and the Department of Rehabilitation,\u201d the school said when the effort first launched.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two years down the road, the school shows no sign of stopping. It has, in fact, added multiple other offerings that cater to military veterans:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Partnership with the Veterans Chamber of Commerce<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In July, the school has announced a unique partnership with the Veterans Chamber of Commerce<\/a> to help more veterans become tech entrepreneurs. Through this collaboration, veterans-slash-aspiring-businesspeople can get the push toward the right direction, with the help of the Chamber\u2019s Executive Director Mr. Joseph Molina, and other members including the founder of veterans-focused non-profit, TenHut, Mr. Pedro De Leon Jr.

Since early this year, the Chamber has conducted a couple of live workshops with Sabio Fellows and it will continue to offer support in the forms of one-on-one mentorship and consultations for those interested. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEverything we do is in support of our veterans and their families,\u201d the Chamber said.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are a lot of exciting initiatives lined up for 2021\u2014when the pandemic is no longer expected to be a health threat\u2014including in-person coding and entrepreneurship workshop at various military bases. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Women Veterans in Tech Initiative<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Through this effort, Sabio focuses on streamlining the resources<\/a> to help women vets build a successful and sustainable career in tech. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At WomenVetsInTech<\/a>, active duty or transitioning service members and veterans can find all the information they need to secure a firm footing in the tech industry. The website is a one-stop-center that features everything from career road maps, financial resources, scholarship opportunities, and even success stories to inspire fellow female vets.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cServing your country is an extremely important and invaluable journey to take, and for your next phase we aim to provide you a streamlined and easy process to help you succeed,\u201d the school said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are plenty of positive things to rave about when it comes to Sabio, but the only reason you\u2019d need right now is that the school understands <\/em>that this is a rough period for everyone. Meanwhile, the school announced that its in-person campuses are still open to students who are in great health conditions, assuring that those who are unwell will be instructed to go home. It also added that there are adequate cleaning and disinfectant supplies on-site to keep the facilities clean.

There are also three residential locations<\/a> that are still open to Sabio\u2019s veteran students. As previously said, veterans pursuing an education at the school are eligible for a monthly housing allowance that depends on a number of factors. Those who opted for in-person programs will get a larger monthly housing stipend compared to those enrolled in online courses.

\u201cWe do not want to put our Military Veterans\u2019 financial well being in jeopardy by closing our physical locations. We would only close our physical training locations if the U.S. Veteran Administration allows us to do so and we are given certainty that our Military Veteran Students will not be negatively impacted,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Career-centric education<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
