BMO Capital Markets reported a considerable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/americas\/canada-loses-207100-jobs-april-unemployment-rate-rises-81-2021-05-07\/?utm_source=careerkarma&amp;utm_campaign=careerkarma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" rel=\"nofollow\">job loss increase<\/a> in April of 2020 alone in Canada due to the pandemic.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result, it\u2019s no surprise that many people have changed trajectories and chosen to focus on tech in the time since. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lighthouselabs.ca\/?utm_source=careerkarma&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=outcomes-blog\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" rel=\"nofollow\">Lighthouse Labs<\/a> is a Canadian tech education company that offers full-time programs and part-time programs focused on data science, data analytics, cybersecurity, and web development. The school\u2019s outcomes report, which can be read in full <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lighthouselabs.ca\/student-outcomes?utm_source=careerkarma&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=outcomes-blog\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" rel=\"nofollow\">here<\/a>, appears promising. 2020 was a monumental year for everyone, and amid moments of great worry, this bootcamp saw how the circumstances can provide opportunities for success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis year consolidated the need for digital skills training more than any other, with Canadians desiring reskilling at higher rates than ever before. Throughout the year, we worked hard on our mission of making digital skills more accessible to more people. We\u2019re proud to report that despite the economic instability and widespread job losses of 2020, our alumni have continued to find work in tech after graduation at industry-leading rates,\u201d the school said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-lighthouse-labs-2020-outcomes\">Lighthouse Labs 2020 Outcomes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the outcomes report, CEO Jeremy Shaki said, \u201cIt\u2019s clear that Lighthouse is a necessary bridge between professionals and the digital careers they thrive in.\u201d He added, \u201cLighthouse Labs is excited to continue connecting our communities to a professional world they\u2019re bringing much-needed skill, creativity, and value into.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/careerkarma.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/LL.jpg\" alt=\"A list of Lighthouse Labs graduates in 2020\" class=\"wp-image-33573\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The claims held true in 2020:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>97 percent of job-seeking graduates found employment after graduation.&nbsp;<\/li><li>87 percent of eligible job-seeking graduates found employment within 180 days of graduation.<\/li><li>47 percent of eligible job-seeking graduates found employment within just two months (60 days) of graduation.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Lighthouse Labs categorizes its graduates into two groups: job-seekers and non-job seekers. The school defines job-seeking students as those who conscientiously and actively engage with the Career Services team at Lighthouse Labs. Because the school is home to a valuable team of advisors who provide equally valuable career skills to their students, the Career Services path is worth traversing. As evident in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lighthouselabs.ca\/en\/student-outcomes?utm_source=careerkarma&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=outcomes-blog\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" rel=\"nofollow\">the outcomes report<\/a>, this group found numerous job prospects as professional developers and other positions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, non-job seekers are students who are not looking for employment after Lighthouse Labs for a slew of reasons. Some returned to previous employers, and others returned to school after their Lighthouse Labs experience. Some are entrepreneurs and freelancers, and there are also those without work visas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lighthouse Labs offers two streams for bootcamp: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lighthouselabs.ca\/en\/web-development-bootcamp?utm_source=careerkarma&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=outcomes-blog\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" rel=\"nofollow\">Web Development<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lighthouselabs.ca\/en\/data-science-bootcamp?utm_source=careerkarma&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=outcomes-blog\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" rel=\"nofollow\">Data Science<\/a>. The outcomes report reveals that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Graduates of the web development program make an average salary of CAD$50,564 ($40,525) in their first role upon graduation.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Graduates went on to accept roles such as front-end developers, back-end developers, QA engineers, Shopify developers, and more.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>While the full report on the Data Science program has yet to be released, here\u2019s what we know so far:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Graduates earn an average starting salary of CAD$52,600 ($42,157).<\/li><li>Graduates landed roles such as data engineers, data analysts, machine learning interns, and more.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Hundreds of companies across Canada and the world hired Lighthouse Labs graduates, from small agencies and family businesses to Fortune 500 companies.
