The brand-new coding bootcamp at the University of Sydney<\/a> is an immersive full stack web development course designed to teach fresh programmers all the skills they need to land a real job. The program is open to both university students and non-students, and it’s a great way to break into Australia’s growing tech sector.

The coding bootcamp at the University of Sydney is brand new. In fact, it was first announced in March of 2019, which makes it one of the newest Trilogy coding bootcamps to date. As a result, the first class of students hasn’t even graduated at the time of writing this article. Classes began on June 25th of 2019, so students are still warming up in the program.

However, that doesn’t mean we can’t get an idea of what to expect. Trilogy Education Services has dozens of well-established coding bootcamps across the world, including some in Australia. The full stack web development programs established by Trilogy follow a basic structure, and students report great success within similar coding bootcamps. Many attest that the program is an excellent place to start, as the curriculum is beginner-friendly. Many have nearly unanimous five-star reviews on Course Report<\/a>, which bolsters Trilogy’s excellent reputation in the coding bootcamp world. In time, we’ll likely find a Course Report<\/a> page for the University of Sydney’s coding bootcamp, so be sure to check in on their website once the first class of students graduates at the end of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compared to the average cost of tuition, the University of Sydney’s program ranks on the less expensive side at $14,300<\/strong>.

For the price, students receive a comprehensive full stack web development education, and the full six months of the program are covered\u2014no extra costs like textbooks or equipment. Trilogy places high standards on instructors for their coding bootcamps, and the University of Sydney’s history of high-quality courses serves to reinforce that fact. Coding bootcamp instructors must be both experts in their field and able to teach. Over the last few years, we’ve seen how well Trilogy instructors handle their classes, and this program isn’t likely to be an exception. Students and graduates on Course Report rave about their instructors, along with helpful and patient tutors and TAs. Coding is difficult, and these instructors understand\u2014as a result, they’re patient and willing to help everybody solve problems and overcome challenges. Based on what we know about previous programs, we believe the University of Sydney’s coding bootcamp instructors will be top-notch. Check up on Course Report or other coding bootcamp review sites for updates as they come in.

The University of Sydney’s coding bootcamp is a part-time program, which offers many benefits over traditional full-time immersive courses. For one, students can continue to attend college classes (especially during the summer) with plenty of time to spare for evening classes and coding work. Also, many people hold full-time jobs while attending these coding bootcamp programs.

This coding bootcamp offers classes from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM Monday through Friday, along with an additional four-hour morning classes on Saturdays. Don’t forget that it’s necessary to attend all the classes if possible. You’ll need excellent attendance for all 24 weeks of this program, as coding bootcamps like this cover a lot of content in each class.

In many cases, class isn’t the time to study or practice, as there’s too much to cover in a short time. As a result, students should expect an additional 20 hours of take-home work each week, though many people get it done in less time. These assignments are also excellent portfolio-building opportunities, so it’s important to clear your schedule as much as possible to ensure you have adequate time to complete the projects to the best of your ability.

The University of Sydney’s coding bootcamp prepares students for a full stack web development career, so the curriculum includes both front end and backend coding languages. These include staple web development languages such as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, along with Bootstrap, Express.js, React.js, Node.js, jQuery, MongoDB, MySQL, Database Theory, Git, Command Line, and other useful tools. While it seems like a lot, remember you’ll have six months to learn it all along with plenty of time to practice.

Most Trilogy students take a little while to get used to the workload but end up reporting success once they develop a strategy to stay on top of the fast-paced environment of coding bootcamp. Once you graduate, you’ll be adept in all the necessary skills to compete for an entry-level full stack development job in tech.

Reddit is a go-to resource for honest opinions on a multitude of topics, including coding bootcamps. While sifting through the platform, it’s not uncommon to stumble across a thread about these programs. Most people respond positively or with curiosity, but opinions vary. As of now, there’s very little on Reddit about the new coding bootcamp at the University of Sydney. Most Redditors who mention the program are just as curious as you about the details, and most of the answers can be found on the University of Sydney’s website. Over time, we can expect to see more on the subject, so be sure to search Reddit for first-hand accounts later in the year.
