Codesmith LA, 2015 (first year, early cohort)

I was part of one of Codesmith's very first cohorts in 2015. During that time I've met, worked with, and befriended several intelligent, hardworking, awesome people. I can honestly say that, having gone here, I've changed my life for the better. I didn't have much of a coding background at all before coming here, but after my 3+ months at Codesmith I feel confident and happy in my abilities. Before applying, be aware that this is a VERY strenuous course; you will be here 60+ hours a week for...
Pros
Great job support, curriculum, & instructors. It tends to attract people that are both talented/hardworking but also just genuinely good, friendly people. My overall experience was significant in my professional and even personal...
Cons
It's difficult work, but definitely worth it. I was in an early cohort and there were some kinks to work out, but I had a successful experience and there have only been improvements since.

Galvanize Review

I attended Galvanize DSI in NYC. Overall it was a fantastic experience and I would not have the job I have today we’re it not for the skills I gained there. However I would say if you’re considering a bootcamp because you think the data science alone can boost your career I would caution you. I think in the end there’s nothing you can learn in 3 months to totally transform yourself. You need a plan. You need a story that you’re going tell. How are the skills you have today going to compliment...
Pros
One of the instructors was fantastic. The classmates I had were very collaborative and interesting. Small classes in general help you learn better and get individual attention. I love the emphasis on “growth mindset” and the resume...
Cons
We don’t spend enough time learning the crucial data engineering work. One of the instructors was impatient and unhelpful.
