Loved my experience--perhaps not for everyone

I knew I wanted to participate in a coding bootcamp and Galvanize made it really easy to determine if their teaching style fit my needs by offering an intro to Javascript mini-course. After I figured out this was something I could really get into, they gave me a lot of incentives to invest in myself through diversity, early-bird, and referral discounts on tuition (still a hefty sum of money for most though--luckily I was privileged enough to have enough saved). I liked how they operate on a...
Pros
- Cohort model - Flexible structure for different learning styles - AMAZING instructors (at least when I was there) - Curriculum focused on marketable skills - Discounted tuition opportunities - Carer coaching - Great physical environment...
Cons
- Not a lot of alums were particular helpful in getting connections to new companies - Seemed like there was a lot of internal re-organization that pushed out some great instructors - Still pretty expensive--competitive price, but that...

Amazing Community & a Staff that Cares Deeply about your Success

Created 7 months ago
From my perspective, Turing's two greatest strengths are the community and the staff. The support I received from the staff, alumni, and other students contributed to my success during the program and eventually helped me land a job a few weeks before I was finished. The community & staff work hard to create an inclusive environment that cultivates a diverse student body full of amazing people. I made life-long friends during my time at Turing and felt supported by the community from before...
Pros
• longer term (you learn a lot more in 7 months than you could in a 3 month program) • qualified instructors who care • strong curriculum • tons of job support • diverse community
Cons
• it's a ton of work...felt like 70 hours a week sometimes, but this was expected for such an intense, compact program • the location is in a basement with no light, which kinda makes you feel like you're in a bunker
