This review is coming from someone who started the year with barely enough computer knowledge to log into an email account. It's hard to recommend this course to someone in a similar position, but it's also hard not to recommend it. When you're dedicated to learning an entire trade in 12 weeks, you'll never get as in depth or personalized education the way you might in a college course, and that can leave you feeling like there are massive gaps in your education. The trade off though, is that...
Pros
- They really do want you to succeed. To the point where failure is entirely on the student. If you put forth the effort, the staff will work with you. You'll never just be left hanging, wondering if you're doing enough. -It all comes...
Cons
-It hard. It's draining. It's stressful. -Concepts are thrown at you at a much quicker pace than you could possibly catch them. While the intention behind it is to simply expose you to these concepts, it can be a frustrating experience to...

Making the decision to switch careers entirely was a challenge in and of itself. When posed with idea to switch to the tech industry, I felt both excited and fearful. I heard about Turing from a former colleague of mine and also attended both the Frontend and Backend Try Coding events put on by Turing. I have always been curious about things and attending those events lit that curiosity on fire. My journey through Turing was an incredible experience that, for me, brought light to a multitude...
Pros
For me, I had wonderful instructors and mentors. I also like that Turing has an open source curriculum so that I can revisit things that I learned to keep solidifying my understanding. Meeting other folks who are also taking the journey...
Cons
For me, the leap from Mod 0 (learning how to set up an environment and some other getting started basics) to Mod 1 seemed rather wide. We only really spent the first two mods learning basic Ruby and then never really revisited it again. I...
