Lambda School: A great curriculum padded by good teachers and a phenomenal ISA

Created 4 days ago
I worried extensively about signing up for Lambda. The price tag seemed excessively steep and I wasn't sure what I would get out of it. But now, a month after graduating, I'm comfortable recommending this school to anyone that asks. Of course, it has it's ups and downs. There were days where I was staring at my code, frustrated beyond belief. But when I turned to the amazing Lambda community for help, they were ready and willing to help myself and all the other students learn what we needed to...
Pros
- Helpful Team Leads - Adaptive and relevant curriculum - Great instructors (for the most part) - Awesome culture within the Slack channels - ISA is super student-friendly, unlike college debt
Cons
- One of the CS instructors was very knowledgeable but really lacked teaching skills - Long days staring at a screen

Amazing Community & a Staff that Cares Deeply about your Success

Created 7 months ago
From my perspective, Turing's two greatest strengths are the community and the staff. The support I received from the staff, alumni, and other students contributed to my success during the program and eventually helped me land a job a few weeks before I was finished. The community & staff work hard to create an inclusive environment that cultivates a diverse student body full of amazing people. I made life-long friends during my time at Turing and felt supported by the community from before...
Pros
• longer term (you learn a lot more in 7 months than you could in a 3 month program) • qualified instructors who care • strong curriculum • tons of job support • diverse community
Cons
• it's a ton of work...felt like 70 hours a week sometimes, but this was expected for such an intense, compact program • the location is in a basement with no light, which kinda makes you feel like you're in a bunker
