I attended Horizons as a high schooler going into my senior year. They created a shortened program for us that lasted approximately 8 weeks instead of the full 12 that they offer for most students. These last 4 weeks were, however, heavily geared towards industry job preparation, so it appropriate to omit that portion for high schoolers like me. The 8 weeks I did attend were life changing, however. The curriculum was relevant and interesting, but it was the people and location that hit it home....
Pros
-Friendly and experienced teachers -Relevant and well-structured curriculum -Perfect location -Fantastic speaker series
Cons
-Mediocre classroom space -Significantly more useful for those who can attend all 12 weeks -Expensive -Difficult housing situation for non-high schoolers.

Horizons does an incredible job introducing and teaching mobile and web development to students of all skill levels. Unlike the theoretical computer science classes in college, Horizons teaches you how to utilize software development tools and frameworks to build actual products. Near the end will they give students the opportunity to start their own initiative and the...
Pros
Explore the SF location, competent instructors, ambitious students, rigorous curriculum.
Cons
Expensive unless you receive a fellowship (~10k)

I learned practical skills at a rate that vastly outpaced that of my CS classes at UW-Madison. In addition to this, these were skills that could be immediately applied, unlike some of the non-practical skills that college CS programs require you to spend time on. Another thing that shocked me was how well Horizons instructers were able to teach students who had never...
Pros
See above review (basically all pros)
Cons
San Francisco is expensive to live in. I believe they moved to NYC which is also expensive.
