The course covered off an introduction to further statistical tools and approaches that can be used in all data handling analysis and reporting. The course offered both theoretical understanding and practical application examples. It is a course that every person will take away useful tools even if you work with data on a daily basis. The course was also delivered in a clear and enthusiastic manner.

Afterskills is great leverage for me to experience, explore, and learn data sciences and its related hard skills. As an absolute beginner, I was always looking for a proper teaching platform for me. After I found out Afterskills, the only thing left was focusing on the curriculum and tryting to learn it.
Pros
Very detailed and energetic teaching method and style. So hardly lost my concentration on it. Feedback was amazing and communication between learners and teacher was great.
Cons
Workload is a bit burden for the beginner. (But not a big problem)

Highly recommended to take the course. It is very suitable for people like me who have no previous background in programming. It started from the beginning and dive into more challenging questions. Furthermore, the practice questions are very practical and make me feel I could adapt to my work.
Pros
-Well-structured course -Briliant instructor -Practical questions -Clear concept
Cons
-It would be great if we could have some pre-reading to work on before the course.

Cons
The platform was great though some options like retrieving deleted code will be great

Took the SQL course as part of additional training provided by Oxford University. The course was taught as an all-day program with short breaks and a one hour break for lunch. The content was easily digestible and at beginner level. The instructor deeply understood the nuances SQL and was able to clearly and efficiently answer student questions.
Pros
The course was complimented by hands-on activities called "challenges" through an online webpage. These challenges were fun extensions of what we were learning and provided direct application of course content.
Cons
The day-long setup for the course was extremely taxing. I would have preferred it to be spread out over multiple sessions to take time to digest the material and be prepared to ask any new questions.

Essential course for anyone working the data driven world. Covers the fundamentals of how data is organized in database management systems and how to access it.
Pros
Great blend of theory and application. Not just a technical lesson, but a course that emphasizes asking clear and concise data related questions. Very engaging overall.
Cons
Would have been nice to know the agenda beforehand along with the scheduled break times.

I attended the course held over three days and found it both engaging and extremely useful. This would be an useful class for a finance business partner role and gave me the necessary tools to add value to the business by driving the right insights. The course included a range of excellent content, with engaging content throughout, held in an interactive manner.
Pros
Great engagement throughout the course from the instructors, break out rooms throughout the course to work through problems together were really useful as well as having practical examples made the theory more intelligible.
Cons
Would have been great to delve into more detail in some of the topics covered during the course but I understand that time was also limited.

As someone who has zero background in coding and comes from a non-STEM history, I left the course feeling confident I could take charge of my own SQL learning/workings now that I had the basics covered! Weldon Whitener is a brilliant teacher and kept us engaged all through!
Pros
Hands on experience Learn from scratch Not theory heavy
Cons
Course is meant only for entrants/beginners

The course was great, I learnt a lot and now I feel comfortable completing basic queries, grouping data, joining tables etc. Highly recommended course!
Pros
The course is very interactive and engaging, there are very short "lectures" followed by a lot of q&a, practice and fun individual and group challenges. Weldon is a great teacher, despite delivering the course on zoom, he did a great job...
Cons
Despite regular breaks, the 1-day session is quite intense, I felt exhausted by the end (it was a 9-5pm session). It would be useful to incorporate some very basic clarification information in the beginning e.g., what is SQL and what is...

I did Afterskills’ Excel course and really enjoyed it! Reece taught me the basics of Excel and even though it was virtual, I still feel like I got the same learning experience that I would have received if it was in person. I would definitely recommend taking it.
Pros
The class I took was very hands-on, Reece made sure I understood every concept and didn’t move on until I was comfortable with what we were learning. The exercises we did were really fun and engaging and helped me out to practice what...
Cons
Honestly the only downside was that it was virtual, but even then it was still really great.

So Career Karma was started by Artur, Ruben and myself out of our own struggles career transitioning into Tech. Our journey took place in 2014-2015 and if it wasn't for the three of us doing it together we wouldn't be here today. Once we got our high paying jobs in tech and I was working as a Software Engineer ... How do you successfully pass the technical interviews for Flatiron and Hack Reactor (Software Engineering and Cyber Analytics) ?

Created 1 year ago

Good question. They are very different so I would recommend doing prep courses for both to try it out. However, then decide which specialty you're most interested in and go for those technical interviews. In preparation, definitely complete the prep course. The next steps for you should be to ask the admissions officer about the type of questions that are going to be on the technical interviews. What resources do they recommend you review to get accepted? What they think will...
