The course primarily focuses on JavaScript as the main programming language. It is structured in a way to enable complete beginners with no history of software programming to understand fundamental concepts of programming, which will be easily transferrable to other programming languages of interest in future.
Pros
Structured curriculum starting out from basic fundamentals and slowly building up to more complex concepts, friendly and approachable instructora, excellent teaching quality with ample time given to try things out yourself after each...
Cons
The course can be quite fast-paced sometimes, but instructors are always happy to help or spend additional time explaining concepts to ensure we truly understand.

skills union has a really cool work ethic.

The course was great to build a solid UX foundation. We had a diverse group of instructors where we got to make new connections, learn more from their different expertise. This allowed us to get a balanced perspective about applications, interviews, portfolios etc instead of having only 1-2 instructors throughout the course.
Pros
- Career support and guidance is provided all the way till your job placement. - Mentors from a wide background of UX, UI, PM, etc are available for mentorship sessions and as instructors. - Not a crushing workload - Instructors are...
Cons
- The coursework could allow 1-2 additional projects to be done so that students would have 3-4 UX projects from the course for their portfolio.

I'm glad I found this course at a time when I was thinking about expanding my horizons as a graphic designer in the midst of an uncertain pandemic situation. Not only good course materials but capstone project selection at the beginning of the course also makes it easier for students to apply the training material. Besides that, doing presentations every week is also a very good thing for us if we want to enter the world of UX/UI design.
Pros
Guidance from highly experienced instructors in their field during the course and while working on portfolio accelerator.
Cons
Differences of opinion from the instructors sometimes confuse the students.

SkillUnions' UX program is a holistic course that touches on every aspect of UX with a strong emphasis on human centered approach. I particularly liked how we progressed through the contents of the course by tying everything back to our capstone project, this structure allows us to appreciate how the 5 stage model of design thinking is constantly being applied in real life context.
Pros
- Approachable instructors with a diverse range of backgrounds and a wealth of experience; not only are they a resource but also a networking opportunity - Plenty of follow-up programs to help your transition into the field; learning about...
Cons
Weekly assignments can get quite processionary.

Highly recommend this course for creatives looking to expand their expertise or people who are interested in designing for experiences. Having a creative background, will without a doubt help you to ease in and make learning faster. Even if you don't have a creative background, it is easy to get on board because it also covers some of the basic principles of design. More than the research & design skills, it helps to boost your confidence through various presentations.
Pros
It is a good place for peer learning, as it involves both team and individual work throughout the course. As a team, it helps to boost your strengths and cover your shortcomings which is relatively quite close to a real-world project. The...
Cons
It will be a little tough if you don't have a creative background, will require you to spend some time on craft but possible with the lessons.

As a graphic designer, I joined Skills Union's UXPM Programme in hopes of expanding my design career and can't recommend it highly enough. The introduction of the capstone project wasn't only a perfect exercise to apply everything that we learned throughout the programme but also the ideal output to start our portfolio to use for potential job opportunities.
Pros
The instructors brought professionalism and great industry insights and were very helpful with explaining concepts, giving real-world examples, and answering questions during class and later on Slack. Peter, Josh, and Elia did a great job...
Cons
VERY intensive. Not for the faint of heart.

So Career Karma was started by Artur, Ruben and myself out of our own struggles career transitioning into Tech. Our journey took place in 2014-2015 and if it wasn't for the three of us doing it together we wouldn't be here today. Once we got our high paying jobs in tech and I was working as a Software Engineer ... I say an incredible opportunity for others like me who were trying to learn how to code on their own but failing to complete their transition. Three years into us...

How do you successfully pass the technical interviews for Flatiron and Hack Reactor (Software Engineering and Cyber Analytics) ?

Created 2 years ago

Good question. They are very different so I would recommend doing prep courses for both to try it out. However, then decide which specialty you're most interested in and go for those technical interviews. In preparation, definitely complete the prep course. The next steps for you should be to ask the admissions officer about the type of questions that are going to be on the technical interviews. What resources do they recommend you review to get accepted? What they think will...
