- Preparing us skills directly applicable in industry - Connecting us with industrial partners for a 1 month project where we can work on real life industry applications
Cons
Nothing I could say

I was one of the first people to do the remote learning version of the Applied Data Science course in 2018. I have done my own self-directed learning online on data science and Python but this course really offered me the structure I needed to learn good practice in the industry and do hands-on learning. I moved into a data scientist role by the end of the course and the course has given me a solid foundation in a variety of data science topics. The main things that attracted me to the remote...
Pros
• A great range of tutors drawn from industry and academia deliver the course material. • Rigorous course content and covers the latest developments in topics. Advanced topics you wouldn't see in similar courses include some of the...
Cons
• The Slack workspace is on the free pricing so messages older than around 6 months disappear. Students will have similar questions to ones people had a year ago - if Slack gets upgraded it would help things be more 'self serve'. More...

The course was a great way to network and gave me good insights into the practical world of data science, with the common tools used like Python, Jupiter notebook, github and SQL. The lecturers were really knowledgeable in the field and the pace was good for me. I also liked that it was in a classroom setting as I formed part of a study group to do coursework and go through the course material with other students. I recommend it!
Pros
- practical on the job skills - networking - Well structured course material and coursework to practice and apply what you've learned
Cons
- be prepared to dedicate every other weekend for 6 months to this course, it's worth it if you really want to break into the data science and analytics field - it helps having some background in maths/statistics or programming

It was an excellent experience with a taste of "wanting more" at the end. I already had some knowledge about data science but I feel that I took an extra step in my skills. A fantastic Bootcamp that opened up excellent opportunities in my career, including the chance to lead a data scientists team. A note about the location of the sessions, always in great locations, in central London. A super positive experience that I definitely recommend
Pros
The knowledge and availability of trainers, a fantastic and relaxed atmosphere, high knowledge sharing and a path from the basics to the most expert knowledge
Cons
Lack of reinforcement learning modules

The time spent with the Cambridge Spark team was rewarding. It was not all work and work was always filled with interesting challenges. It was a great environment to learn new skills from the instructors as well as from interactions with other participants.
Pros
Knowledge instructors across the breath of the machine learning landscape; weekend sessions suitable for those that need to keep their full time jobs while studying; practical capstone projects.
Cons
No real cons outside of the level of career support after completion but I am sure that has gotten better since my time there.

It was very good online course for starters in data science. You can get all necessary theory and make some practical tasks. For me the difficulty was optimal. Also you getting a recommendation plan of further studying for each module and some links for that. You have a chat with other students in slack and tutors. So, you have everything that you need to study data science.
Pros
Interesting practical tasks and a lot of material to solve it. You can do the final project with real industrial partners of CS.
Cons
I wasn’t completely satisfied by theory, lectors was different for each module. Some of them was a bit short, some of them was too long, but it’s just a minor problem.

I applied for the course through work and managed to secure one of the few remaining spots on offer. My overall impression is that it has been a very worthwhile experience so far; challenging and extremely rewarding. The course is split into 3 sections; data analysis, data science and project work and has so far focussed primarily on Python (including pandas, numpy, scikitlearn, Anaconda, beautiful soup) with some SQL and HTML. It is ideal for CPD in the workplace. The lectures are...
Pros
You will accomplish a lot in a relatively short space of time. Cambridge Spark is partnered with leading players in industry and academia so the course content is designed with real-world problems in mind. Provided you keep practising, you...
Cons
The course is very involved and extra reading around the topics is required. The breadth and depth of topics is equivalent to a masters in my view! Balancing a full-time job with the course has, therefore, been quite challenging....

Took this course in 2019 and provides a solid foundation for machine learning and predictive modelling. It is billed as a data science course and goes over the end-to-end workflow, the different models as well as scoring. In order to be successful there is a heavy dependency on knowing Python as well as understanding statistics and mathematics. It is a lot to cover over 10 sessions but having it meet on weekends is good to support people working full time and their online portal (K.A.T.E.) does...
Pros
Does a good job with teaching machine learning, allows opportunities to partner up with different companies for final project, class meets on weekends to support those working full-time.
Cons
The course focus is on machine learning as opposed to some of the other aspects of data science, such as visualisation, collection or assessing data quality. All of these are touched on but probably warrant more detail. I am a career...

The classes and the topics were good organized, the teaching was good and the teachers had a good predisposition to explain the details. I enjoy working in edukate, it is interesting that we can work with Git. The individual feedback in the projects was missing, apart from edukate feedback, just to know the best way to develop the projects. Reinforcement learning could be a topic to add in next Bootcamp. In general I think was an amazing experience.
Pros
I can feel the difference before and after to do the Bootcamp, I learned a lot, the project's training was helpful to learn new skills and new methods.
Cons
The individual feedback in the projects was missing, apart from edukate feedback, just to know the best way to develop the projects.

Who started Career Karma?

Created 2 years ago

So Career Karma was started by Artur, Ruben and myself out of our own struggles career transitioning into Tech. Our journey took place in 2014-2015 and if it wasn't for the three of us doing it together we wouldn't be here today. Once we got our high paying jobs in tech and I was working as a Software Engineer ... I say an incredible opportunity for others like me who were trying to learn how to code on their own but failing to complete their transition. Three years into us...

How do you successfully pass the technical interviews for Flatiron and Hack Reactor (Software Engineering and Cyber Analytics) ?

Created 1 year ago

Good question. They are very different so I would recommend doing prep courses for both to try it out. However, then decide which specialty you're most interested in and go for those technical interviews. In preparation, definitely complete the prep course. The next steps for you should be to ask the admissions officer about the type of questions that are going to be on the technical interviews. What resources do they recommend you review to get accepted? What they think will...
