About the Career Karma Publication
Every month, more than 1 million people visit the Career Karma blog seeking advice and information on careers, job training programs, and higher education. Since launching the publication in early 2018, the Career Karma team has been dedicated to producing valuable content to assist job-seekers as they reskill, study, and progress through their new careers.
In addition to career advice, coding tutorials, and learning resources, the Career Karma publication team has produced numerous research reports and comprehensive guides on everything from education financing to market reports.
The publication is a complement to the other services Career Karma offers, including our mobile app and online community, free career coaching, directory of training programs, bootcamp matching, and laptop donation programs.
All of this and more is free to you, and it always will be. We simply ask that you commit to helping someone else when the time comes. Good karma.
In 2020, Career Karma raised a $10 million Series A investment round to further expand our efforts to help 1 billion people make their most important career decisions. The Series A and the prior seed round were led by Initialized Capital, SoftBank, Kapor Capital, Backstage Capital, Emerson Collective, and Imaginable Futures.

The Career Karma content team has grown tremendously over the past two years. What was once a few freelance writers and copy editors has become a large dedicated team of writers, researchers, editors, and subject matter experts.
The content creators at Career Karma come from all walks of life and backgrounds. Yet, we all share a commitment to helping people reach their potentials by offering consistent, thoughtful, and reliable resources to those seeking to better themselves.
The editorial team at Career Karma is made up of experienced editors and content creation professionals. We strive to ensure all content on the Career Karma blog is accurate, accessible, and useful for our visitors as they make their most important career decisions.
Chad M. Crabtree is the Editor-in-Chief at Career Karma, where he covers higher education, job training, and the future of work. After earning his bachelor's degree in English and Political Science from the University of Oregon in 2014, Chad spent time as a freelance writer for a variety of publications in the higher ed space. Chad then joined the Career Karma team in 2019, managing the content team and specializing in digital marketing. His work has also been featured in a variety of industry publications, including TechCrunch and Afrotech.
Senior Content Manager Alex Consiglio joined Career Karma in mid-2020 after nearly a decade in journalism. After working at the Toronto Star and Toronto Sun, he took a job at Cambodia’s independent newspaper the Cambodia Daily, where he worked as a reporter, associate editor, and freelance photographer. He then led a news team at the Khmer Times as Chief Sub Editor for a few years before making the transition to digital content management.
Technical Content Manager
Anith contributes to Career Karma as both a writer and an editor, covering coding bootcamps and other developments in job training. Since earning her bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from the International Islamic University Malaysia, Anith has worked in some of the preeminent publications in Southeast Asia, including Malay Mail. She also served as an associate editor at the Khmer TImes, running a weekly lifestyle publication, before joining the Career Karma team in 2020.
As an editor and writer for Career Karma, Brandon covers developments in higher education, job training, and tech careers. After studying media arts at Kennesaw State University, Brandon has drawn on his extensive experience in technology, writing for companies like Udemy, Staples, LG, and a host of small businesses. Since joining the Career Karma team in February 2020, Brandon has used his technological expertise, as well as his exceptional media skills, to allow individuals to connect with schools, careers, and technology.
As an editor and writer at Career Karma, LJ Nicole uses her research skills to cover topics like financial advice, online bootcamps, and job training programs. After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at De La Salle University, Nicole was a market researcher for Euromonitor and the editor-in-chief for a scholarly publication in philosophy. She then worked as an editor for newspapers. Currently, Nicole is co-editing a biography while writing and editing for Career Karma. She joined the team in August 2020.
After completing his bachelor's degree in International Relations and Global Affairs at Eckerd College in 2007, Adolfo settled in Cambodia. There, he was a reporter for some of the biggest publications in the country, including the Southeast Asia Globe, Phnom Penh Post, and Khmer Times before joining the Career Karma editorial team in 2020.
Madeline is an editor and writer at Career Karma, where she writes on topics like higher education, technology, and digital marketing. A native to Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, Madeline earned her Bachelor of Arts from nearby Lafayette College. Using her extensive skills in Microsoft Excel, InDesign, and web design, she also works as a Website Maintenance Specialist at WebstaurantStore. Her work is featured prominently in "InQ" and "Cars & Coffee" magazines. Madeline joined the Career Karma team in April 2020.
Janelle joined the content team at Career Karma as an editor in September 2020. After earning her bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Washington, Janelle moved to Asia, working as an editor for publications like Korea JoonAng Daily, The Cambodia Daily, and the Phnom Penh Post. She also spent time as an editor for CamboJA, a journalists' association in Cambodia.
Helwin Mara serves as the editor for all technical content at Career Karma. After earning a bachelor's degree in communications from Upper Iowa University, Helwin began work as a journalist at various media companies in Asia over the course of a decade. He has been a reporter for major news outlets in Asia, including the Bangkok Post and CNN Indonesia.
Content Partnerships Manager
Ethan Scully is a writer, editor, and game developer who managers Career Karma's content partnership initiatives and is currently based in Istanbul. His relationships with coding bootcamps give him particular insight into these new job training programs. Before joining the Career Karma team, Scully worked in IT support, graphic design, and as an editor for Cambodia's Khmer Times.
Justin Higginbottom joined the Career Karma team as a content editor in November 2020. With a bachelor's degree in economics from Arizona State University, Justin's professional interest in journalism and digital storytelling has taken him all over the world. He has contributed to a range of high-profile publications, including CNBC, Atlas Obscura, The Spectator, OZY, The Diplomat, and AI Monitor.
The writing team at Career Karma is a diverse group of experts and content creators from around the world. With expertise in everything from digital marketing and graphic design to higher education and finance, our writers are highly qualified and committed to providing the best career advice on the web.
María is a writer at Career Karma, where she covers higher education, coding bootcamps, and technology. After earning her bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism from Universidad del Zulia, María started working as a writer, journalist, video editor, and digital marketer. Working primarily in tech-related niches, she also contributed financial articles to Entrepreneur. Some of the companies she has worked for include TechAccute, Trip University, and Crediplex. In addition to expertise in digital marketing, María is a master of languages and is fluent in Spanish, English, and French.
Daisy is a writer at Career Karma, where she covers online education and careers in technology. Daisy attended both the University of Nairobi and Moi University, earning degrees in Communication and Public Relations, International Studies, Programming, and Web Development. Bryan has contributed to a range of publications related to education, software development, and financial guidance, including StudyOfViolence.com and GameDesigning.org.
Saira is a writer at Career Karma, where she covers topics such as technology, occupations, and higher education. After earning bachelor's in Mass Communication from National University of Sciences and Technology, Saira moved to the San Francisco Bay Area. There, she started work as a technical writer, covering topics like semiconductors, cloud security, and petrochemicals. In November 2019, she brought her extensive writing experience to the Career Karma team.
Joyce covers online courses, learning platforms, and tech careers for the Career Karma publication. She graduated with her AB in Philosophy and her BS in Management of Financial Institutions from De La Salle University. After graduation, she found immediate success in the finance sector of an oil and gas company. After some years, she decided to pursue her love of writing, leading her to join the Career Karma team in October 2020. Her work has been published in the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Ojash completed his degree in Digital Marketing from Digital Technology Institute and has taken on several online training programs where he learned web development and other vital tech skills. Ojash joined the Career Karma team in November 2020.

After earning her BA in Television and Film Production from the University of Portsmouth, she worked for Wellbe, where she wrote extensively about health, wellness, and fitness. Before joining the Career Karma team in June 2020, Savanna found success as a freelance writer and bookseller. A native of Omaha, Nebraska, she graduated with a bachelor's of Multidisciplinary Studies from the University of Nebraska Omaha. Savanna is currently pursuing an MFA in creative writing to further enhance her career. Specifically, she aims to use her degree to start nonprofit animal welfare organizations in developing countries.
The Career Karma technical writing team, comprised of experienced programmers and writers, is dedicated to producing concise and example-driven content on programming languages. Our goal is to guide beginners through learning the topics they need to master in-demand technologies, from HTML and CSS to Python and Java.
Christina is an experienced technical writer, covering topics as diverse as Java, SQL, Python, and web development. She earned her Master of Music in flute performance from the University of Kansas and a bachelor's degree in music with minors in French and mass communication from Southeast Missouri State. Prior to joining the Career Karma team in June 2020, Christina was a teaching assistant, team lead, and section lead at Lambda School, where she led student groups, performed code and project reviews, and debugged problems for students. Christina's technical content is featured frequently in publications like Codecademy, Repl.it, and Educative.
As a member of Career Karma's technical content team, Morgan writes coding tutorials and other resources for aspiring programmers. A native of New York City, Morgan attended Fordham University and completed Lambda School's full stack development and computer science program. Before joining the Career Karma team in October 2020, she spent time at Wells Fargo as a bilingual mortgage consultant. When Morgan isn't creating user-centric websites or learning new technology, she's writing poetry, which you can easily find online.
Ryan is a technical writer at Career Karma, where he covers programming languages, technology, and web development. The Texas native earned his Bachelor's of Music Composition from the University of North Texas. Ryan is currently pursuing further education in web development, aiming to graduate from Flatiron School with a certification in full stack web development. Since joining the Career Karma team in November 2020, Ryan has used his expertise to cover topics like React and Ruby on Rails.
Brandi Taylor is a technical writer at Career Karma, where she covers topics such as iOS development, computer science, and web development. A Lambda School alum, Brandi has been immersed in the tech world since the late 90s as a freelance web designer, building sites for startups and other organizations.
