CodeClan offers an practical curriculum which gets you to grips with the fundamentals of software development through a range of modern web development tools. The course is fairly intensive but the students get a lot of support from staff.

Pros

Great curriculum. Excellent levels of support. Financial support for some student. SQA accreditation.

Cons

Some students for my cohort took more than a year to find a job. Most took less than 4 months.

The whole experience was very immersive and positive. The instructors are very skilled, supportive and dedicated. The curriculum is well adapted to the market needs and I had no problems with finding employment after graduating. The course is super intense and I would advise really dedicating some time and effort to doing the pre course work and maybe even more as it really helps to have the basic concepts understood before starting the course in order to truly get the most of it.

The only thing I didn’t like was the fact Codeclan is trying to make finding the job after the course without using their help harder (especially outside of their partners). The reason for this is that they get a commission for every hired...See more

Codeclan was just what I needed to upskill and move into software development. Learnt more in 16 weeks than I had trying to self-learn with online courses. The course is intensive and you need to be fully immersed to get the most out of it but overall the best decision i've made.

Pros

Great structure to learning providing industry standard ways of writing in the languages and best practices. pair-programming, industry talks, speed networking service.

Cons

Careers advice has you churning out boilerplate CV's focusing on Codeclan. Felt rushed towards the end of the course - week 16 is a waste - would be better to spend longer on react and do final projects on the last week. Large cohort sizes...See more
