About Recurse Center

The Recurse Center (formerly Hacker Center) offers a free three-month immersive retreat for people intent on improving their programming skills and is based in New York. Since their program is project-based and self-directed, participants write open-source software and grow together as programmers in a friendly, intellectual, and energizing environment. The Recurse Center has optional activities like reading groups, mini workshops and seminars, weekly dinners and talks, group presentations, and many more.

Good question. They are very different so I would recommend doing prep courses for both to try it out. However, then decide which specialty you're most interested in and go for those technical interviews. In preparation, definitely complete the prep course.
