The instuctor was very nice and taught us in a comfortable pace. The learning schedule was also started from basic level and hence the learning slope is not too steep for beginner.
Pros
The instuctor was very nice and taught us in a comfortable pace. The learning schedule was also started from basic level and hence the learning slope is not too steep for beginner.
Cons
Some of the code may have not been learnt beforehand but it was applied during the progress and hence sometime will need more time for that to do more research but overall expectation was achieved

A lot of content is covered, from advanced mathematics, machine learning in finance, to risk management and trading. I am a better quant after than ever before.
Pros
High level content, you will learn a lot. Forces you to apply coding to real world problems. Skills for the future.
Cons
Takes a lot of time. The review/marking style has many gaps. Too much group work with lazy students.

Great experience, wonderful faculty and lots of opportunity!

I started the Financial Engineering program at WQU out of curiosity to expand my knowledge in finance and applied mathematics. It was ultimately worth it, and the change from the old curriculum to the new one was the game changer.
Pros
Flexibility (It's completely online), its free of charge (except from some books and tools you might want to get to optimize your work), and you get to learn a lot of amazing computational techniques for finance.
Cons
It does require a strong background in mathematics and computational sciences, otherwise you will struggle. Likewise, people are very competitive in the program, thus it does require you to spend almost a full-time equivalent dedication to...

It is my second master´s degree program. The quality of courses is high. The financial engineering programme has given me up-to date technology skills. Worldquant University connects students and profesors from around the world. I have met interesting people (even though online).
Pros
It is free, It is accredited by DEAC. It has a systematic approach to build knowledge from the ground up to the newest research and technology in the field. The system of points (requirements) is well organized and the same in every...
Cons
I think the education model presented by this organization is revolutionary. If more study programmes were taught free this way, it could solve a lot of problems in developping world. The only cons was varying difficulty level (some...

WQU prides itself in providing the best education to all students. They provided quality teaching and learning materials through out the course with well qualified lecturers and professionals. The school has indeed broadened my scope of understanding and knowledge in the field of study and has helped me maximized my potentials and I will be able to contribute meaningfully to help the society.
Pros
I take delight in using the Black-Scholes model now in Continuous Stochastic course. Implementing deep learning algorism using the Tensor flow in Machine Learning. I can now, conveniently, use the Python and R programing to perform...
Cons
WQU program is well structured but I think one week is not enough for some of the modules.

The program content is good for real world applications. The hands on practical assignments are the highlight of the program. The program is designed well for online only delivery and there is sufficient feedback from instructors given that there is no tuition fee. However there is absolutely no job support. Recommended if you are already in the instrustry and would like to augment your skillset.
Pros
Tuition free and there no other such alternative.
Cons
Job support is non existent. Not recommended if you don't already work in the industry.

WorldQuant University provides the avenue for anyone to learn data science and machine learning. The program is in two folds, unit 1 and unit 2. The unit 1 introduces students to scientific computing and python for data science and unit 2 delves into machine learning and statistical analysis. Both units last for a period of 8 weeks each. To get to unit 2 you must complete unit 1 and certificates are available for each unit. There are office hours which is a real time virtual classroom where you...
Pros
There is a real time virtual classroom to ask further explanation on a particular topic.
Cons
Its sometimes difficult to keep up with learning since there’s a lot to read before the week end. Every week new topics are added.

Who started Career Karma?

Created 2 years ago

So Career Karma was started by Artur, Ruben and myself out of our own struggles career transitioning into Tech. Our journey took place in 2014-2015 and if it wasn't for the three of us doing it together we wouldn't be here today. Once we got our high paying jobs in tech and I was working as a Software Engineer ... I say an incredible opportunity for others like me who were trying to learn how to code on their own but failing to complete their transition. Three years into us...

How do you successfully pass the technical interviews for Flatiron and Hack Reactor (Software Engineering and Cyber Analytics) ?

Created 2 years ago

Good question. They are very different so I would recommend doing prep courses for both to try it out. However, then decide which specialty you're most interested in and go for those technical interviews. In preparation, definitely complete the prep course. The next steps for you should be to ask the admissions officer about the type of questions that are going to be on the technical interviews. What resources do they recommend you review to get accepted? What they think will...
