BloomTech Application Process and Interviews

The BloomTech application process is straightforward and it starts with filling out the BloomTech application form online. You will need a valid email address for account registration or you can sign up using your Facebook or Google account.

After your account has been created, use the BloomTech application checklist to ensure that you are following the right steps. You will be asked to choose between learning how to become a data scientist, backend developer, and web developer. Select a timezone and class schedule that works for you, and choose a BloomTech tuition option.

The next application step for any BloomTech program is to take the 15-minute online assessment called the Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test. There are about 50 questions across verbal, math and logic, and spatial reasoning topics.

If your interest is data science, you will subsequently take the data science skills challenge which should be completed in 45 minutes. Those interested in the development course must know how to code in Java and take the Java skill challenge which runs for about 30 minutes.

Students who pass the assessment will be invited to submit details of their educational background and wait for the final decision. Currently, there is no BloomTech interview process so do your best during the assessment to increase your chances of admission.

Applying for lambda you will have to pass an initial coding test determined on a level of experience you input into their database. Prepare for a codewars kata level 7, or leetcode easy question if you choose "Experienced - built full application." -- Overall it was a great process though. We have a slack channel to talk w/ our classmates in, and a slack channel to see what lambda students get jobs in the field. I've not yet started the actual classes yet so no information on those. I'm not really sure there are any legitimate "cons" to this program. I 100% recommend BloomTech to anyone.

I had an amazing experience with BloomTech. The schedule catered to my busy schedule, as I was juggling two jobs at the time and they made it easy to make the course schedule work for me. They offer fantastic payment options so there was no need to take out a loan. I received support from instructors, staff, and even my peers whenever I needed it. I truly feel prepared to go out and get a job, having been taught technical skills but also job seeking skills. I would recommend anyone and...
Pros
Flexible schedule, payment options, thorough curriculum, pair programming experience, support
Cons
At the time the units were month-to-month so when I needed more time on one topic, I had to repeat the whole month. However, now they have switched to a week-by-week system so that will not be an issue anymore!

Overall a great experience!

Although there is room for improvement (as is the case for any bootcamp), my experience at BloomTech was great! I would recommend the program to anyone who wants to start their web dev journey with structure and guidance. One of the best parts of the program is the community. There are SO MANY people to learn from and connect with and I never encountered anyone who was unwilling to help. They are also INCREDIBLY flexible. Personally I made sure to only focus on BloomTech but that is not...
Pros
-Ultra Flexible -Great Resources -Awesome Community -Kind People -Extended Support after graduation -Good Course Structures -Experience out the wazoo
Cons
-Staff to Student Ratio -Can be difficult at times (that's part of the fun)

As a new grad, let me say how impressed I've been with what BloomTech has to offer. My son and nephew both graduated from BT and secured high-paying developer positions. I saw what they could do, and I wanted to do the same. I received top-notch, practical experience at a quick pace, with labs being the cherry on top - the experience of working for a real-life client. It prepared me by showing what being a developer is, day in and day out. The camaraderie our team had encouraged us to give our...
Pros
Highlights: Labs for sure, but also the care and attention provided by my Career Coach Casey, Ki, who shared excellent opportunities with me, and the cadre of top-notch instructors and staff, from Kieran to Casey to Gabe, Paul, Ryan, and...
Cons
Not a whole lot of cons, but be aware you will be learning VERY quickly. You do have the option to flex, though, which can help. Just know some people flame out. There's nothing wrong with that, just be ready to be challenged.

I started the six-month Data Science program in January of 2022 knowing only the basic Python assigned as pre-course work. Yesterday (September 15, 2022) I accepted a position as a Data Warehouse Architect. I thoroughly enjoyed the curriculum, the instructors, and career support tools and team, and had a rock-star cohort to learn with. It was certainly challenging, and I had moments of self-doubt. But I took advantage of the myriad resources BloomTech makes available and leaned on my fellow...
Pros
The curriculum is overall very strong, and there are plenty of resources to go beyond the required material. Most of my instructors impressed me with their content knowledge and pedagogy, a couple regularly 'wowed' me, and one in...
Cons
The transitions from one unit to the next were a little rough. There could be better communication through those transitions. This was most marked during the transition to the Labs unit. In particular, a heads up that the Labs unit can...

BloomTech was a great experience everything from the curriculum to the culture/environment. You will meet people with a similar love for your field and struggle with the rigorous(yet fair and enjoyable) curriculum. I had some of the best Instructors I have ever had here at BloomTech and can leave saying I have full confidence in myself as a backend developer. I would also like to note the fact that they help you find a job as you finish up the course is phenomenal I was hired prior to even...
Pros
_- Culture - Instruction - There were times I had to take some time off for personal reasons and BloomTech made it easy to jump right back into the curriculum
Cons
There were instructors that I loved and were sad to see go as I moved on to the next unit. However this is also true for the opposite, there were never any outstandingly bad teachers but this is more of a testament to how great some of the...

I decided to go to BloomTech 6 months ago because it seemed like the highest-bandwidth way to get good at coding. Today, I graduated, having received an industry job offer almost a month ago, and now I have no doubt that BloomTech is the highest-bandwidth way to get good at coding. If you want a no-BS education, they will not force any BS down your throat - they will just teach you to code, at the *maximum* pace you can handle. And from what I [ admittedly still pretty green ] have seen of the...

- Dude. While filling out this form, I realized what freaking React library it came from. I was like "oh my god it's ant design" and opened up Firefox's developer tools and IT'S ANT DESIGN. BloomTech gives you the power to SEE THROUGH THE...
Cons

Before I started BloomTech I had taken a full stack developer course on the app Mimo, but it was mostly on the basics of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. So I would say I had knowledge of what I would be learning, but no experience whatsoever. The course was fun and easy to follow. I would say the most challenging part was the ACS unit and taking the GCAs.
Pros
The instructors and learning assistants were very nice and always willing to help. It was also really helpful that we were able to get familiar with and use to using tools like Slack and Zoom daily, as I now will be using them daily at...
Cons
I honestly don't have many cons to BloomTech. I would just say time if I had to. The full-time course took up a lot of my time and I would be working from sunup to sundown a lot of days, but I don't regret it because I was able to land a...

It was a pleasure working through this unit and the instructors, although had other groups to help and meetings to attend, did a great job organizing the day and helping us out when they could.
Pros
Met other developers and got to pair program with them, got a slice of what it's like at some jobs using the same systems practiced in labs, and getting to learn other technologies or work on sections of the project you want to

BloomTech is a hands on coding bootcamp that takes remote learning to another level. It is not fair to compare this bootcamp to a typical online class. BloomTech was set up with remote learners in mind and the classroom experience was as good as in person schooling, maybe even better.
