My biggest issue with this course was the lack of help I got from mentors, after going through the videos I was very confused with how the backend and the front end communicated. They taught a very basic way of making http method calls and how to connect end points but did not build a correlating back end to help understand database structure in detail. I got little to no help with mentors, they are really nice and will give you time to explain your issues but will not show examples or go into...
Pros
The front end html and css course was really good and easy to understand. And jordan does really good with teaching fundamentals of JavaScript and python
Cons
I had a huge problem getting mentors telling me “there is nothing I could do to help” when I turned my final in I did not get any roadmap on how I could fix the problems they only told me what was wrong. When I asked them if I could get...

When I started the program, I was feeling very optimistic and the instructors were helpful at first. I did the part time online Python/React course, although there was very little Python being taught. Essentially I was taught syntax and how to build a very basic api with little to no explanation of what was going on in the code. The bulk of the course was learning Reactjs, if you call watching a video of half explanations and some times none at all with the instructor constantly saying “put...
Pros
It started off good.
Cons
Very poor communication if any at all. All of the projects completed in the course did not work. Little explanation of how the code worked.

I’ve joined Bottega a while back as an online student and, it’s been nothing but GREAT. The structured way of learning is what grabs a hold of my full attention and what I mean; the knowledge thats given is clear waters giving you the ability to swim towards success. You can work at your own pace, come back when you need a break and the work is always there for you to learn or go back to where you left off is why I love this site more than any other that can or can’t pass to compete.
Pros
- Students can help each other - Support team is always available - Learning is very detailed and at your pace
Cons
There’s always room for improvement in each development but I really can’t think of any downside at this time.

It was a great bootcamp to attend. I started off in class but when issues arose and I had to swtich to virtual and Bottega was great working with me. They are very forward leaning always supporting the efforts of the student/alumni through lifetime access to learning and monthly invitations to webinars. One of the best experiences I have had in learning.
Pros
Personalities, lifetime access to learning, monthly webinars.
Cons
Nothing that I can think of for Bottega.

the teacher i got was amazing, and did really well in the course. When it came time to help me in my job hunt I got ghosted, missed meetings and then no contact for months pretty much on my own finding a job. Only got 2 jobs 2 times a month, and 3/4werent jobs I could do cause of where they were. I dont regret going I just wish they would have helped me with the job hunt I feel like I was screwed over.
Pros
teacher I got was awesome made sure we understood everything, even though the curriculum was 3 years old, helped us keep up with the standards
Cons
job search help was horrible fired one of the people who were supposed to help abd them was never contacted again by anyone in the department felt like they didn't do a part of what they promised

Still in the process- largest issue I had was help from the tutors.
Pros
Easy to follow, web-based learning- content isn't super dry surprisingly enough

There was a lot of different languages taught from the front end to the back end. Jordon Is an amazing teacher he is very easy to understand and he explains things out in real good detail for a new programmer. I took the online course instead of going to class so at times I felt like I was completely alone in the process and after I finished I felt like there was no Job support. Just got my certificate and that was the end of it, never even got endorsed on LinkedIn to give me a little more...
Pros
The Varity of languages to help with the full stack development
Cons
The Varity of languages as a new programmer, I have since taken another bootcamp that only teaches JavaScript and React. I found for myself that I like front end more and wanted to really refine those skills.

Decent education, not a lot of help beyond the course material.

Had a positive experience interacting with most of the instructors and found the course material applicable and enjoyable. Had a terrible experience with job placement. I recognize we are in a competitive industry and getting your first job can be a challenge, but the lack of effort placed in job support (portfolio/resume feedback, LinkedIn best practices, posting available opportunities) was very disappointing and left a sour taste in my mouth over what was otherwise a fairly positive...
Pros
The instructors did a great job breaking things down and making them easily understandable.
Cons
The job support (which was a major selling point when I signed up for the course) was awful. Absolutely no effort in assisting in even finding an opening.

I was enrolled in the part-time online program since I was taking college courses at the time as well. I wish I had committed to full time instead because I would then have more time to focus on the boot camp as well as the additional career support that comes with the full-time program
Pros
There was always a mentor available to help me when I ran into troubles or was struggling with a concept.
Cons
I wish I had gotten more assistance with the job search/ resume portion I only had one meeting with the career advisor

This is a great coding boot camp that really prepares you for real world experience. They train you on the latest techniques and the ones that companies are using every day. The teachers are very helpful, the assignments teach you really simply and the best part is you get to keep all of it and have access to all the updates they come up with.
Pros
Great teachers, awesome materials, up to date, life time access.
Cons
It is a little pricey but most boot camps are, you do have to have a laptop with certain specs so you might need a new one.

Great starting point!

For anyone trying to break into the tech field, this is a good point to start. Well put together courses and only getting better.
Pros
Most Instructors are very friendly and willing to help. No pay till you get a job in the field. Course material teaches some of the more popular things to know at this point in time.
Cons
Job Placement needs to improve and be more hands on with each student. Some instructors may leave you more frustrated than anything.

Need to recognize this is a starting point, not a One-Size-Fits-All Solution

A lot of reviews for coding bootcamps emphasize that “you get what you put in” and this is overwhelmingly my impression after graduating from Bottega back in late 2019. For someone who doesn’t have that anxiety or has a clear view of what kind of language they need to learn…. It might be better just to pick and choose courses on Udemy off a sale and not have to worry about having an ISA hanging over you. Because I lived a few states over, I opted for their remote class over Zoom, which...
Pros
Teaches the fundamentals well. Friendly instructor. Smooth experience as an online course. Good career services resources and access to job fairs.
Cons
Most of the content can effectively be found on Udemy for a much lower price if you know what you're looking for. Learning through videos can be a very passive experience at times. Not as much "real talk" about preparing for the realities...

Who started Career Karma?

Created 2 years ago

So Career Karma was started by Artur, Ruben and myself out of our own struggles career transitioning into Tech. Our journey took place in 2014-2015 and if it wasn't for the three of us doing it together we wouldn't be here today. Once we got our high paying jobs in tech and I was working as a Software Engineer ... I say an incredible opportunity for others like me who were trying to learn how to code on their own but failing to complete their transition. Three years into us...

How do you successfully pass the technical interviews for Flatiron and Hack Reactor (Software Engineering and Cyber Analytics) ?

Created 1 year ago

Good question. They are very different so I would recommend doing prep courses for both to try it out. However, then decide which specialty you're most interested in and go for those technical interviews. In preparation, definitely complete the prep course. The next steps for you should be to ask the admissions officer about the type of questions that are going to be on the technical interviews. What resources do they recommend you review to get accepted? What they think will...
