I have to state first that this is an all-women's/women-identifying bootcamp. Sorry fellas! I also want to note that I had the chance to attend App Academy or Hackbright. After researching, sitting in on lectures, and talking to different staff, I decided to attend Hackbright. The lectures at Hackbright were clear and entertaining plus they helped cultivate a supporting environment (aside from the fact that it is all-women/women-identifying). I know myself enough to know that I learn best in a...
-very clear lectures, access to resources, and very entertaining -very strong backend lectures -instructors are there to teach, are well vetted to be very clear and comprehensive, and have experience teaching -cozy stuffed animals and a...
-some topics are still being refined: Javascript and increasing exposure to React -front end lectures and topics aren't as strong as backend. I graduated ~2 months ago and am currently going out of my way to learn front end-coding on my...

I really enjoyed attending Hackbright Academy. The experience was intense and geared to replicating a balanced work week. Class was 40 hours a week with nightly homework or project work and weekend skills assessments about half of the weeks with a break during weeks we needed to work on our projects. I was in the second remote cohort and the instructors and the class worked really hard to make sure everyone received the information they needed and that it was memorable.
The class was really well structured with labs and project work to reinforce the material. We had two weeks at the end that focussed on the job search and career development. There is such a huge alumni and mentor network that whenever we...
I was in the second remote cohort. Sometimes Zoom would lag or crash. Definitely improved with the recommended Ethernet cable. Also, we were given the option to use a Windows machine or a Mac. I started on Windows but soon switched as...

Great Experience

Overall a very solid bootcamp experience where you learn and get a good foundation in web app development. I came into it with a decent amount of programming experience already (but it was self-taught) so it was a great opportunity for me to get a good foundation and learn the proper way to do things. They pack a lot into a short amount of time but also provide lots of resources and support for students.
Great community (both in my cohort and in the alumni network) Curriculum was solid (though Python heavy when I took it) You complete a final project that ties everything together and is a great way to solidify your skills We also did...
More time could be spent on front-end tech (e.g. React/Javascript) Some people in my cohort experienced some hiccups during the admission process. Not sure if they've sorted things out since.
