I have been impressed with LaunchCode since the start of my first class. Everyone involved is very eager to help students and each other out, building a very welcoming community. I appreciate LaunchCode's focus on equity and providing opportunities for people of many different backgrounds and life stages. The instructors are very encouraging, helpful, and knowledgeable. I was also impressed with the organization's ability to quickly coordinate the switch to remote classes.
Pros
I loved how eager everyone was to share their knowledge and experience with others.
Cons
The pacing for LC101 was sometimes very difficult to keep up with, and perhaps offering an LC101 program with classes occurring once per week would give more people the ability to keep up and make it through the class.

LaunchCode is very much interested in developing a valuable workforce and delivers on training for a basic full stack understanding.

Cons
There are no guarantees for placement.

I went into the LaunchCode bootcamp already having gone through Udacity’s frontend nanodegree, and I still learned a ton. I learned the most from helping other students and enjoyed seeing others thrive while I solidified my knowledge and grew my confidence. Where I gained the most benefit was in the interactions with the LaunchCode staff, especially those who worked directly with companies to place us. Their emphasis on whiteboarding, social and soft skills, and touching on many aspects that...
Pros
FREE! The interactions with other students. The staff’s willingness at every level to go above and beyond to help students. The connections with companies to place students in apprentice roles.
Cons
No guarantee of a job. The material can be a bit verbose and hard to understand

LaunchCode Job Placement Rate and Outcomes

LaunchCode has not published an official job placement rate on its impact report. However, LaunchCode job placement services have helped over 300 people start their careers in tech. In 2019, over 118 employers hired LaunchCode graduates to work in companies like Microsoft, Centene Corporation, North Western Mutual, and Comcast, thanks to LaunchCode career services.

In addition, job placement services are offered to anyone, regardless of whether or not you’re a student. Candidates who wish to receive career support are required to fill out an application and complete a coding puzzle. You’ll then be invited to a tech interview where you’ll have the chance to show off one of your projects.

Based on the technical interview, LaunchCode determines what areas you could improve in and cultivates a plan to help you sharpen your weaker skills. Concurrently, LaunchCode works to match you to potential apprenticeships. These apprenticeships often lead to permanent employment, depending on how the end-of-apprenticeship evaluation goes.
