About Product School

Product School is a bootcamp that began in 2014. Product School programs are designed to develop product managers, leaders, and executives. There are only Product School online programs, which enables as many students as possible to join. Despite the in-person interaction, the quality of this bootcamp is clearly reflected through Product School reviews. Product School payment options help students afford courses, including payment plans and upfront payment. Although there isn’t a Product School deferred tuition option, Product School scholarships of up to $500,000 collectively, allow students from underrepresented groups to study product analytics, product design, product marketing, or coding for product managers free of charge. Prospective students should note the absence of Product School bootcamp prep courses. Students are trusted to be of the appropriate learning level to participate in Product School’s programs. While there is not a Product School job placement service, the career services support students through their job hunt processes.

Product School Application Process and Interviews

The application process of Product School is very straightforward. The first step is to submit an online application that includes questions about your experience. The second step involves an interview with a student advisor, who will contact you within 24 hours after completing your online application.

Our class instructor, Alex, brought the material to life through practical applications and experiences. I would say the course curriculum itself serves as a decent guide - but the class activities, instructor, classmates are what bring the course to life. Post graduation, it seems like the network, alumni and support is becoming increasingly relevant
Pros
Great overview, networking opportunity, introduction to PM community
Cons
Curriculum itself (slides, structure) could be much more rigorous, animated and better thought out.

Great Foundational start for PMs

I went to product school as I was making a career transition from business analysis to product management. A friend had recommended it to see if I really liked it. I highly recommend it to anyone thinking of switching to this career choice. They give you a great foundational start and basically give you a great overview of what being a PM is like. The instructors are PM professionals themselves with a wealth of knowledge who are kind and patient enough to answer any and all questions, while...
Pros
- Great instructors - Great foundational start as a PM - Flexible (they have online and in-person classes) - You could attend ProductCon, which is a great place for networking with other PM professionals and aspirants
Cons
A bit expensive

Only good for the certificate. No learning and disingenuous management.

I graduated from an accelerated week-long cohort at the end of June-early July. My experience going through this experience was highly disappointing and not pleasant at all. 1. I had enrolled in a cohort in May initially. I asked to be reassigned to an 8-week cohort beginning June and ending in July with an instructor I found with more relevant experience and student reviews (based on their profile on LinkedIn...more on that later)- Dr Joel Palathinkal. This reassignment was confirmed and I...
Pros
The Slack channel with a Job portal and regular AMA guests.
Cons
The disingenuous instructor, the lack of care for student experience, the lack of communication by the programs team about instructor changes, the remedial process is half-hearted. Overall not worth $4000. Better to read PM-related books.

Definitely worth the investment

I had the best time and learning experience at the Product Leadership Course at the Product School. I was part of Rocky Sharma’s class, who did a phenomenal job at not only delivering the course materials (which covered everything from business model, strategy to data analytics and stakeholder management in Product), but also “nudging” us to be more curious, think outside the box and always strive to “deliver customer delight in hard to copy, margin enhancing ways”. Great investment in my...
Pros
Hands on learning, instructors are open to questions and always willing to help.
Cons
None that I can think of.

An experience to cherish

I was part of the 8 Week online Cohort from April - June 2020, for the Product Manager Certificate course. I had a great experience as a whole. The instructor was amazing and shared real-life experiences and tips. Building up from the basic fundamentals and pulling towards a professional presentation, the journey helps the candidate envision the entire process. The LMS might not be very intuitive with static PDF's being given, but they can be downloaded and kept for future reference. Being...
Pros
Experience of the instructors. Real-life case study. Discussion between the cohorts.
Cons
LMS system might need a face-lift. The cost of the course was pretty high.

So far so good my experience level doubled and I got more exposure in my new career path! I just started my User experience journey in may this year(2020) and getting on this program really helped build my confidence and expertise!
Pros
Having the mentor talk in-depth of how user experience works in product helped me realize there’s a lot to learn! I’m still learning but still I know I learn for personal growth.
Cons
This was on my path and it had to do with power and internet, apparently I missed a week of lecture because of this and I made up for it.

Great experience

The courses are based on strategic and updated themes. The classes are taught by professionals in the field who work in innovative and high profile companies, such as Google, Netflix, Lynda, among many others. And when it comes to sharing experiences, they do their best. I like the time of the classes very much. They are not very long or short and there is always a little theory along with real cases that help to demonstrate and facilitate learning.
Pros
There is always a discount coupon course that can reach 100%. The Product School during this pandemic in 2020 that stopped the planet offered some free courses and that was really cool! There are many courses that are very useful for those...
Cons

Who started Career Karma?

Created 2 years ago

So Career Karma was started by Artur, Ruben and myself out of our own struggles career transitioning into Tech. Our journey took place in 2014-2015 and if it wasn't for the three of us doing it together we wouldn't be here today. Once we got our high paying jobs in tech and I was working as a Software Engineer ... I say an incredible opportunity for others like me who were trying to learn how to code on their own but failing to complete their transition. Three years into us...

How do you successfully pass the technical interviews for Flatiron and Hack Reactor (Software Engineering and Cyber Analytics) ?

Created 1 year ago

Good question. They are very different so I would recommend doing prep courses for both to try it out. However, then decide which specialty you're most interested in and go for those technical interviews. In preparation, definitely complete the prep course. The next steps for you should be to ask the admissions officer about the type of questions that are going to be on the technical interviews. What resources do they recommend you review to get accepted? What they think will...
