Overall, I really enjoyed the Startup Ignition bootcamp. Even though it's primarily a bootcamp to teach key aspects of entrepreneurship, many of those aspects are important information that everyone should know (the different business entities LLC, S-Corp, C-Corp, cap table 101, etc). Also, I said 5 stars for the job support section, but it should really say teacher support, because John Richards works tirelessly to support everyone that takes his course, because it matters very much to him...
Pros
I really liked the dynamic flow of the bootcamp and it was great to be in a room with like-minded people.
Cons
Part of the dynamic nature of the bootcamp also creates going too fast through certain parts of the curriculum. I also would have enjoyed more women in the class.

There isn't much entrepreneurship in my social circles, so I had no idea where to start when it came to launching my own business. Fortunately, in my mad hunt for a mentor, I was directed to Startup Ignition, and it was everything I could have asked for and more.
Pros
A concise, relevant curriculum An engaged community of alumni who share resources freely A network of "supporters"--vendors who offer great deals to SI alumns Mentoring FOR LIFE (John usually responds same-day)
Cons
Have to travel to Utah to take the course (which I did, and was TOTALLY worth it)

Great boot camp for figuring out what NOT to do

The material, teaching, and instructors are great. Framework for validating an idea are great. Allows you to see what you shouldn’t do as an idea (saves time and money).
Pros
The content and instructors are great!
Cons
A little hard to follow the process sometimes (of validating an idea). Jumps around a little bit.

Startup Ignition was a tremendous experience. There were three full days of in person instruction (used to be several months with a class or two nightly during the week). The first almost two full days were all about validating business ideas. I know some people got kind of tired of validation because most had their own companies but I did not so I loved every second of it. The last day and a half or so had to do with creating a business model, scaling your business, founding teams, raising...
Pros
Instructors, instruction, network, mentoring.
Cons
If you don't have a business you are working on you won't get much mentoring.

Great bootcamp for lean startup.

This was a great way to get my founding team on the same page with lean startup principles. Startup Ignition promises a common language to cut through the issues that come from getting everyone on the same page. It helps accelerate your business (and validation of ideas). It also helps avoid pitfalls that come up for many founders. I took the class at the Lehi, UT (not Provo) site.
Pros
Best was connecting and networking with people. This is a Silicon-Slopes-centric community (Utah), but there were students and partners from everywhere (CA to NY). The continued support and mentoring is great. It’s inexpensive and the...
Cons
It’s a massive data dump with little workshop-type, hands-on learning. The hands-on learning comes after and it’s up to you to seek it. The data dump is great for those who learn that way (all the info is accessible afterward to review)....

The hardest thing about entrepreneurship is that you don't know what you don't know. You don't have a pattern to follow and you honestly don't even know what questions to ask. Startup Ignition gives you all those pieces of the puzzle. From analyzing the initial idea all the way to funding and scaling a company, SI gives you the context that you need to orient yourself in the startup world and put yourself in the position to succeed. It was a phenomenal experience.
Pros
A well-thought out curriculum created by an experienced entrepreneur and investor who legitimately cares about fostering success. Amazing resources that will make a difference moving forward.
Cons
Not a lot of cons. to be honest. Can be hard to make the time for it when you're busy. It is heavily tech focused, though should still useful for product and services startups as well.

A must to take if you want to be a successful entrepreneur.

If anyone is truley serious about becoming a successful entrepreneur then doing Startup Ignition. There is no question that doing this course is worth it. The information, mentoring from John Richards and the Alumni network is worth is worth far more than the fees you will pay. Startup Ignition teachs the correct way to go about starting a business. There is a specific and scientific way to be successful and John teachs just that. Also, I can't say enough about the alumni network. It has been...
Pros
The information, the mentoring and the alumni network. Also Startup Ignition has a network of supporters who are vendors that give exclusive discounts to Startup Ignition Alumni.
Cons
I can't think of one con to be honest.

Who started Career Karma?

Created 2 years ago

So Career Karma was started by Artur, Ruben and myself out of our own struggles career transitioning into Tech. Our journey took place in 2014-2015 and if it wasn't for the three of us doing it together we wouldn't be here today. Once we got our high paying jobs in tech and I was working as a Software Engineer ... I say an incredible opportunity for others like me who were trying to learn how to code on their own but failing to complete their transition. Three years into us...

How do you successfully pass the technical interviews for Flatiron and Hack Reactor (Software Engineering and Cyber Analytics) ?

Created 2 years ago

Good question. They are very different so I would recommend doing prep courses for both to try it out. However, then decide which specialty you're most interested in and go for those technical interviews. In preparation, definitely complete the prep course. The next steps for you should be to ask the admissions officer about the type of questions that are going to be on the technical interviews. What resources do they recommend you review to get accepted? What they think will...
