This boot camp really goes the extra mile to ensure you understand the foundations first as they build and drill you into becoming a full stack software developer in popular in-demand languages such as C# and Python. I took the Software Developer Boot Camp and the curriculum was excellent! It's self-paced but if you want to truly get your money's worth it's best to stay on track. Don't worry though, these guys have thought of just about everything and will guide you along the way if you get...

The Software Development course taught me the fundamentals of computer science and all modern in demand programming languages. One thing that sets The Tech Academy apart from a standard school is that they have Live Projects at the end of each language course. This really helps the student understand the methodology of a developer and the logistics behind working with other developers!
Pros
They always answer the phone when you have questions and are always more than willing to help. You completely control your pace of learning.
Cons
Some people learn better in person, if that is the case, they actually have two campuses. One campus is in Portland, Oregon and the other is in Seattle I believe. With that in mind, they have several lecture style videos where the...

I started the UX/UI Design course with very basic computer knowledge. After just a few short months I am now able to design and create webpages! The curriculum was easy to follow. The instructors were so friendly and helpful. I'm now searching for a tech job and trying to get out of healthcare. This is the best thing I've done for myself and my family!
Pros
Easy to understand curriculum Friendly/ Helpful Staff Job searching within 6 months
Cons
Self paced. You have to stick to your schedule or you will fall behind.

I enjoyed my time as a student of the Tech Academy. Overall I'd say it was worth the money. Could you learn all this stuff for free, sure, but it'd probably take much longer and it would be hard to find the kind of support you would get as a student. Instructors were easily available to help me when I was stuck. They begin at the basics and build from there which I think really helps. From there on you will get what you put into it. The more you study, take extra time to learn, and keep...
Pros
Reasonable cost, helpful instructors, live project experience, after graduation job search/support.
Cons
Instructors off weekends and certain time zones may get limited hours, or if you do most of your studying at night. Some fairly common tools/concepts could be better explained (APIs).

My goals in doing this bootcamp were be successful in learning key programming concepts and skills, to be hirable, to feel confident in core programming abilities, to have experienced in-demand technologies and frameworks, and to have built software applications that I could demonstrate to others. I can safely say that I achieved all of those goals and more in doing the Software Developer Bootcamp! To be clear, you can literally spend years studying a single programming language or framework...
Pros
Thorough grounding in core computer science and programming fundamentals in several in-demand languages and frameworks: HTML,CSS,JS,SQL,Python, Django, C#, .Net. Excellent Instructor and Job Placement Support Self-paced Hands-on group...
Cons
Some areas were not as well taught as others. For example, I found the GIT and Version Control section to not be the best and had to supplement with YouTube, Pluralsight, etc. to understand. By and large, it is well done though.

Let me preface this review by saying I completed the Software Developer Boot Camp as well as having the privilege of becoming an Instructor shortly after graduation. My education with the Tech Academy was a bit of a roller coaster as learning to code without much of a STEM background can be difficult for some. However, the Tech Academy does a wonderful job of creating a balance of easy to comprehend terms along with practical coding experience throughout each course along the boot camp. I loved...
Pros
Instructors are readily available and are very patient with students. Loved the way the curriculum is laid out along with the Live Project portion of the boot camp.
Cons
My only frustrations come from my own personal way of learning things and not at all reflective of the way the Tech Academy teaches their curriculum.

Once we got our high paying jobs in tech and I was working as a Software Engineer ... How do you successfully pass the technical interviews for Flatiron and Hack Reactor (Software Engineering and Cyber Analytics) ?

Created 1 year ago

Good question. They are very different so I would recommend doing prep courses for both to try it out. However, then decide which specialty you're most interested in and go for those technical interviews. In preparation, definitely complete the prep course. The next steps for you should be to ask the admissions officer about the type of questions that are going to be on the technical interviews. What resources do they recommend you review to get accepted? What they think will...
