I choose to remain anonymous for this honest review. I attended DevPointLabs Full-Time Curriculum this year. Upon searching for various camps, I decided to pursue this one. After talking with Marc (recruiter) I asked many questions. 1) What does the curriculum cover? 2) What’s employment/ job search like after this class? 3) Do we have teachers/ assistants to help with homework / extra questions? .... After talking a few times Marc ensured that their is a “high employment success rate” and also...
Pros

Cons
Lack of help No Employment Assistance Unorganized Over Priced

In early 2021, I enrolled in DevPoint Labs’ Full-Time Boot Camp with hopes of becoming a professional web developer. Now, less than half a year after completing the boot camp, those dreams have become a reality and I can safely say that DevPoint Labs lives up to every expectation. The boot camp not only teaches students how to deploy their own full-stack web applications, but also sets students up with a strong foundation in web development. In this boot camp, students get experience...
Pros
- Great Staff - Curriculum Relavant to Current Industry - Helpful Alumni Network
Cons

I was in the Spring 2020 cohort of DevPoint, when Covid broke out. Prior to that, we attended class in their building in downtown SLC. I had concerns due to my being disabled, if the class would be accessible. Marc Price was phenomenal and got me a parking spot, modified seating, and was super kind about my needs. I felt welcome, and part of the team. The instructors all knew my name, my strengths, my goals, and asked about how I was doing as a person. Switching to an online model, that stuff...
Pros
The instructors and assistants are all former students of Dev Point. This means they understand what struggles you face as a new developer. They're all super approachable, and super helpful. I never had a bad interaction with any of the...
Cons
If they go back to in the building learning at some point, my only con there is the classroom isn't accessible. You have to climb stairs to get to it. Although I was able to use the stairs, someone who can't (wheelchair or other disability...

I graduated in the Winter 2020 cohort at DevPoint Labs in the beginning of February 2021. Where to even start... Before attending DevPoint Labs I searched and researched every bootcamp known to man (it felt like...) and I looked at these type of reviews tirelessly trying to find the right fit for me so I hope if you are in the same position this can help a little. I came in with no experience at all. I come from an acting, flight attendant, anything outside, background. So by no experience I...

After dropping out of the University of Utah while studying economics, I thought I would never enjoy academia again. I decided that instead of doing nothing, I'd try a coding bootcamp to see how it went. Luckily I chose DevPoint. This bootcamp has a great location, an even better staff, and made my introduction to coding a great one. They helped me learn that I love computer science, and I am now back at the U of U getting a degree in the field. Without trying this bootcamp, I would most likely...
Pros
Teachers, location, curriculum, homework help, community, price
Cons
More job help after graduation would be nice

I attended DevPoint Labs in 2018. This review is kind of for bootcamps in general though. There were few in my class who got development jobs after the class. That isn't something that DevPoint can control but is something to be aware of. In Utah as bootcamps grow and become more and more popular there is going to be more and more competition to get jobs in the industry. If you love to code and are extremely passionate about web development you CAN get a job in the industry. I would say 3-5 out...
Pros
(Pre covid) Snacks and drinks? Instructor was 5/5 when I was there (changed multiple times since then) LinkedIn Connections to Alumni?
Cons
No job support. Makes you believe that anyone can switch careers and get a job: -You can, IF YOU ARE PASSIONATE -If you don't have passion you will not stand out to any potential employers -The wrong mindset is "I want to quickly switch...

Q/A I'm a parent & work during the day, should I go to a Bootcamp? Yes! I work 8-5 pm & then went to DPL from 6-9. I did have to invest time in the course and saw less of the daughter & wife during the course. The majority of our cohort was all moms & dads. Friends in the cohort had graveyard shifts after class or left home to go to work then straight to DPL in the evenings. To have this structured dedicated time with assignments & being able to ask every question is worth it! I would...
Pros
- Works best for working adults who need to pay bills while attending a part-time course. - You are allowed to sit in on future classes & have access to community after graduation. - Focused curriculium to give solid foundations on how...
Cons
A job guarantee would have been helpful, but I also understand why it is not offered. Folks join the bootcamp never having writting a line of HTML or CSS before, while others have various projects under there belt. Offering a job...

The curriculum was very well thought out and the staff was very patient and helpful with us through the course. The final project and the following job fair to display our projects was also a very helpful thing for out class. If I hadn't had another job already, I had on employer at the job fair basically offer me a job right there.
Pros
The course was good at balancing the subject matter with learning how to code in groups and work with others from a repository.
Cons
Honestly, although I was grateful for how efficiently everything was covered, I wish the class could have been longer to do more practice.

As do many boot amps we learned JS and Ruby. I felt like it was good but the part time program seemed rushed and toward the end where you would expect to get some help for jobs the services were there but not great. The instructors were good and knowledgeable. Didn’t feel like I came out of the boot camp prepared to learn other languages as well as I would have thought, built some cool projects though! I would suggest a better roadmap for after you graduate. Having some sort of income share...
Pros
Instructors, team members, projects, and family feeling.
Cons
Lack of job support, no roadmap after you graduate, no incentives to help them help you get a job after

This course was like a roller coaster with so many bumps and turns you wouldn't believe it! My time here amounted to one of the most challenging times in my life. But the payoff was worth it, I feel like I learned so much in such a short amount of time and it's unbelievable. Not just that but the people here are amazing, they will help you in any way they can and be your friend the whole way and afterwards. If you want to gain experience, learn something new, get skills for the future, and have...
Pros
This is the place if you want a ton of info shoved into your brain at once. Probably one of the fastest ways I have ever learn not just one, but many skills.
Cons
In order to actually remember everything, you have to keep going. You can't stop and take a break or you will forget.

DevPoint Labs (DPL) was a great experience. I came from a background in psychology and medical billing, but they made it easy to get up and running as a developer. The program had a very intense workload, but over a short time frame, I walked away a capable coder.
Pros
Great for people with no coding experience Passionate staff is great to work with
Cons
The intensive class schedule can be difficult for people who aren't willing to commit.

Who started Career Karma?

Created 2 years ago

So Career Karma was started by Artur, Ruben and myself out of our own struggles career transitioning into Tech. Our journey took place in 2014-2015 and if it wasn't for the three of us doing it together we wouldn't be here today. Once we got our high paying jobs in tech and I was working as a Software Engineer ... I say an incredible opportunity for others like me who were trying to learn how to code on their own but failing to complete their transition. Three years into us...

How do you successfully pass the technical interviews for Flatiron and Hack Reactor (Software Engineering and Cyber Analytics) ?

Created 2 years ago

Good question. They are very different so I would recommend doing prep courses for both to try it out. However, then decide which specialty you're most interested in and go for those technical interviews. In preparation, definitely complete the prep course. The next steps for you should be to ask the admissions officer about the type of questions that are going to be on the technical interviews. What resources do they recommend you review to get accepted? What they think will...
