I was new to the tech world, coming from traditional sales and account management. Flovkjay gave me the foundation I needed to pivot and tailor my skills for the tech space. I got a solid foundation of what tech SDR roles entailed, tech stacks used, and how to succeed in a position. With my previous educational background, sales experience and Flockjay training, I was able to land an AE position about a month after Graduation.
Pros
Solid curriculum and staff. There for any questions you had. Outside support was there as needed. Helpful interview prep phase at the end of the program.
Cons
I found my job on my own. I didn't interview with any Flockjay placement resources. However, I did use tactics learned, such as interview tracking, follow up etc, to make sure I was keeping up with what I applied for and where I was in the...

It was not easy. But comfort and growth will never coexist. The trainers and TA's were supportive and patient. Fellow students are life-long networking connections for my future in Tech
Pros
Deferred tuition, evening schedule, fully remote
Cons
This is not a con per se, but worth figuring out before applying... Flockjay announced at graduation that a major pivot is coming. I don't know what that would look like and if it would affect the program I am reviewing. Time will tell but...

Rachel and Chris were excellent. Knowledgeable, funny, engaging, supportive. Everything you could ask for. Most of the staff was pretty great too, including the TAs (Aubrey and Ivan specifically). We were pressured to do this review the moment we "graduated" aka completed the coursework. From there, you're supposed to do your qualifying interview and move on to Career Services, the portion of the training that allows you to speak with advisors who connect with you with Hiring Partners. The...
Pros
- The people that interact with students are generally awesome. - My Batch (Class) was full of people I want to keep in touch with. They're awesome.
Cons
- After the instructional portion of the class is over, you are basically abandoned. - Some of the staff were very condescending at times. - Career Services (Job Placement) isn't available to everyone despite being the main reason anyone...

Overall the program was very immersive, and moves fairly quickly but very informative, and the staff was super friendly, helpful, and professionals. I'm thankful to have met such a great group of people from tech fellows to the TA's and instructors.
Pros
Very informative, and technical. It develops your skills in tech, and also gives you that open growth mindset mentality to want to do more. Getting comfortable not being comfortable is key to succeeding in this course.
Cons
It really moves fast, at times towards the midpoint of the program you can feel a bit overwhelmed, but it is called a Bootcamp for a reason!

So Career Karma was started by Artur, Ruben and myself out of our own struggles career transitioning into Tech. Our journey took place in 2014-2015 and if it wasn't for the three of us doing it together we wouldn't be here today. Once we got our high paying jobs in tech and I was working as a Software Engineer ... I say an incredible opportunity for others like me who were trying to learn how to code on their own but failing to complete their transition. Three years into us...

How do you successfully pass the technical interviews for Flatiron and Hack Reactor (Software Engineering and Cyber Analytics) ?

Created 2 years ago

Good question. They are very different so I would recommend doing prep courses for both to try it out. However, then decide which specialty you're most interested in and go for those technical interviews. In preparation, definitely complete the prep course. The next steps for you should be to ask the admissions officer about the type of questions that are going to be on the technical interviews. What resources do they recommend you review to get accepted? What they think will...
