I chose Nucamp's Full-Stack program for the combination of in-person and online instruction, the part-time commitment, the accountability it provided, as well as for the price. It did not disappoint. I really enjoyed having a cohort of other local students to learn alongside, as well as an in-person instructor. Even when we had to switch to virtual workshops due to COVID-19, the experience was still positive. I would never have learned so much on my own; the weekly Saturday workshops were...
Pros
Local cohort, local / in-person instructor, weekly live workshops, weekly coursework can be done at your own pace, encouragement & support in creating portfolio projects, the price, the part-time nature of the program, the Slack community....
Cons
Sometimes the instructors didn't have the depth of knowledge to answer every question I had (some have only a few years of coding experience under their belts), but they were always eager and helpful to try to problem-solve for me.

What type of machine are you using? Pc or Mac?

Created 1 year ago

For my .net c# work, I use a PC. I was lucky to get a cheap refurb Dell (Quad Core i7 w/ 2 threads per core, Windows10 Pro, 16gb ram, and 256GB ssd), which is more than adequate to run Visual Studio. For everything else from Java to JavaScript I use a Mac Mini M1. My IDE's are Visual Studio Code, IntelliJ IDEA, and IntelliJ PyCharm CE.

Starting to look at Nucamp is anyone registered or has anyone taken their boot camps?

Created 1 year ago

I just finished their Web Development Fundamentals bootcamp and have learned alot. The instructor was very insightful and helpful when help was needed. The best part is, that the bootcamp won't eat at your pocket either. I'd have to say, that Nucamp is a great boot camp for your money. Very flexible around your work schedule too.
