Cyber Security Bootcamp
Students in this bootcamp learn the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Cloud Security Alliance Cloud Controls Matrix, and MITRE ATT&CK frameworks to keep sensitive data safe. Students in the coding bootcamp learn these materials through exclusive lectures, explanations, coding demos, coding challenges, and more, crafted by world-renowned MIT faculty: Dr. John Williams and Dr. Abel Sanchez. Williams serves as a Professor of Information Engineering and Civil and Environmental Engineering, having earned his BA in Physics from Oxford University, a MA in Physics from UCLA, and a PhD in Numerical Methods from the University of Wales, Swansea. He’s written or co-authored over 250 publications and consults with some of the biggest companies on the planet including Microsoft Research, Motorola, and Ford Motor Company.
Sanchez serves as a Research Scientist and Executive Director of MIT’s Geospatial Data Center. He earned his Ph.D. from MIT before constructing data analytics platforms for Ford, Altria, Accenture, and more. In addition to his work in data analytics, he’s built cybersecurity solutions for the Department of Defense and helped develop e-learning software for Microsoft along with an online technology academy for Accenture employees.
At MIT, Williams teaches courses on building software systems, engineering computation, and data science. Sanchez also teaches courses on engineering computation and data science, along with courses on cybersecurity. Together they also teach an MIT Applied Cybersecurity Professional Education Summer course, so they have ample experience with collaborating on a curriculum.
Emeritus and MIT worked in close collaboration to develop this program.. Williams and Sanchez have tested this curriculum on real MIT students before putting it into the MIT xPRO bootcamp, where working professionals vetted the content to ensure it covered the industry’s modern reality.
These professors spent over 250 hours developing the curriculum in tandem with Emeritus to design the most relevant and hands-on activities and projects. Over 15-20 hours per week, you’ll learn the technology and industry best practices that drive hundreds of the biggest companies in a supportive environment.
