What Is LearningFuze?
LearningFuze is an Orange County, California-based bootcamp that’s been operating since 2014. This bootcamp was one of the first in Southern California and holds the honor of being the first coding bootcamp based in Orange County. It’s earned a reputation as one of the best in the industry, as shown by numerous five-star LearningFuze reviews here on Career Karma.
LearningFuze also works hard to give back to the community. Its team organizes the local Startup Grind chapter, which helps startup founders, entrepreneurs, and more learn and connect with like-minded individuals. The school has also partnered with several employers on Diversity and Inclusion Scholarships and regularly speaks on tech panels and at local schools.
Along with its community involvement, the bootcamp sets itself apart from others in the space with a few key factors. Namely, it promises that students will always come first instead of relying on predatory practices to trap new students. To live up to this promise, LearningFuze offers lifelong benefits and has gone the extra mile to make sure that its students are ready for the industry.
LearningFuze will challenge you, but it’s more interested in developing you as a future professional than anything else. To that end, before you even enter your program of choice, LearningFuze’s admissions team ensures that you’ve done your research on your topic, and you are prepared for the risks that come along with entering tech.
This isn’t to say you have to already be an expert in software engineering, UX design, or data science before you come to LearningFuze. If you’re passionate and committed to learning, you’re a great candidate for this program, and they are very accommodating to students to ensure they have room to grow and make mistakes on their path to professionalism.
To make sure that students have every advantage they need while entering their career, LearningFuze built its own learning management system. This system integrates with both Git and Slack so that students can practice iterating their software while also learning to communicate the way that they’ll have to in the industry.
Lifelong Benefits for LearningFuze Students
Even after graduating from LearningFuze, you’ll be able to reap the benefits of your time in the bootcamp. LearningFuze offers lifelong access to continued education after you graduate from its full-immersion coding or data science bootcamps, along with lifelong career services to help you with your job hunts after graduation, from your second, third, fourth, and beyond.
You can polish your skills after graduation with access to course modules that are free or at a steeply discounted price versus a new enrollee. And you’ll have access to resume building, lunch and learns, the rich alumni network, and more while you find a job that fits your needs. LearningFuze believes the term “Career Services” should encompass your career, not just a job search to get your foot in the door.
Many educators give you a wall of material and help you after the fact, but LearningFuze takes a different approach. This school built its curriculum with more than 450 employers that make up its hiring network, and it focuses on having students code their way through the curriculum instead of listening to lectures and coding after the fact.
LearningFuze offers three courses to help you enter the growing tech industry: web development, data science, and UX design.
Learn Web Development at LearningFuze
There are three ways you can learn web development skills at LearningFuze. You can take the part-time course to learn the trade in a more flexible method. You can also take full-time courses in an in-person or online format to get a more fast-paced learning experience. Regardless of which path you’ll take, you’ll start your journey at the Web Development Prep Course.
LearningFuze Web Development Prep Course
This course prepares students for the full-length course of their choice for a $95 fee. But the course is free if you attend an info session beforehand. Classes take place over three Thursday evenings and two Tuesday evenings, with three daytime class sessions on separate Saturdays.
This course serves as a great introduction to the ways that LearningFuze tailors your individual experience based on your expertise and life situation. This attention to detail is possible because of the school’s low teacher-to-student ratio.
LearningFuze Part-Time Web Development Course
LearningFuze’s part-time program allows students the flexibility to take the course while continuing their current job. This course consists of three modules that last for 12 weeks each. Students can either take one module to increase or refresh their skills in one facet of web development or take all three if they want to learn how to develop websites from the ground up.
In the third module, students complete their baseline training in full-stack development by adding React and Redux capabilities alongside data structure and algorithm training. After the third module, students enter the school’s career services program with a strong portfolio. They learn how to conduct an effective job search which ends in gripping interviews and how to present their online presence to potential employers.
Students are expected to commit 15 to 20 hours per week to this course on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings. Each module costs $3,995, but you can shave $1,000 off of the total price of $11,985 by paying for all modules at once upfront. You have more payment options, but we’ll get to those later.
LearningFuze Full-Time Web Development Course
You can choose to take the full-time course at LearningFuze in an in-person or online format. Both courses follow the same format and provide the same benefits, but one offers the opportunity to learn on the LearningFuze campus in Orange County, while the other allows you to take LearningFuze’s curriculum from anywhere.
No matter which course you decide to take, you’ll start your journey with the prep course we mentioned above. After you’ve completed that course and you’re accepted into the program, you’ll study software development principles over 14 weeks with industry professionals.
Learn Data Science at LearningFuze
Though you might think that you need an advanced understanding of data science, years of experience, or a degree to start working in data science, that’s not always the case.
LearningFuze reports that many of their employer partners have had such a positive experience with graduates from other programs that they’ve been requesting data scientists from the school. So you can expect demand from the many hiring partners that work with LearningFuze after graduation, including Nike, Verizon, and more.
Much like the web development course, LearningFuze’s data science course begins with a prep course. After students attend this free course, they can choose between an in-person or a remote immersive course.
LearningFuze’s Intro to Data Science Course
LearningFuze’s Data Science Prep Course is a two-week part-time course that trains students in the core data science skills they need to work in the field. Students build a foundation in the Python programming language and the data science field in general, while also getting an introductory lesson in statistics and the GitHub workflow. By the end of the program, students will have completed a project to deepen their understanding as well.
This course normally costs $245, but students who attend a free virtual info session or those who have already been accepted into the immersive data science program can attend the course for free. LearningFuze’s info sessions and this free introductory course show the ways that this educator is constantly working to add value to people’s lives.
LearningFuze Data Science Immersive Course
Both the in-person and online courses follow a similar pattern. Students learn the most important aspects of data science over 12 weeks, with instruction on Python, machine learning, deep learning, artificial intelligence, and cloud deployment.
In the first week of the course, you’ll build on the foundation of the intro course by studying Python libraries and learning about the data science process. From there you’ll progress to data exploration and visualization, before learning about data preparation and spending weeks four through seven on multiple aspects of machine learning.
You’ll then learn about training your machine learning models to recognize images and natural speech to provide recommendations and more before finishing up your curriculum with instruction on handling big data using cloud services.
Both courses cost $14,995, but there are several discounts and scholarships to help you save money on the course.
Learn UX Design at LearningFuze
LearningFuze’s part-time UI/UX design course gives students an in-depth remote experience over a 24-week schedule. Much like the part-time web development course, this course is also split into separate modules.
In the first 12-week module, students learn the core principles of quality UI/UX design. This includes establishing a foundation in the discipline before learning how to conduct research to find a proper user flow. You’ll then learn how to prototype your designs with professional software and then how to test and validate your work before demonstrating it.
In the second module, you’ll learn how to bridge the gap between UI and UX before learning helpful coding skills and expanding your design skills. You’ll learn how to brand an organization properly, create digital prototypes, work with developers, and plan for the future of the discipline with instruction on augmented reality technology.
Each module of this course costs $3,995, but you have the option to pay $300 less by taking advantage of the early registration discount. The lower cost of this course is part of LearningFuze’s mission to provide accessible education.
LearningFuze Cost and Payment Options
You’ve probably noticed that LearningFuze’s costs are lower than you may expect for an educator in Southern California. Despite the school’s location, it’s focused on offering a high-value program that competes with prices around the country. And beyond the affordable costs of each program, you have several payment options, course credits, and scholarships to help lower your financial burden.
You can choose different payment structures that fit your current situation. These structures include a deferred payment option for the full-time programs, which allow you to learn without paying anything until you’re employed. You can also pay for both the full-time and part-time programs by financing them through Ascent, LearningFuze’s loan partner.
LearningFuze’s full-time data science and coding bootcamps offer permanent discounts for an upfront payment and early registration. There’s also a significant discount for women and veterans who attend either program. If you attend the part-time coding bootcamp, you can credit the money you’ve paid for each module towards the cost of the full-time program.
As we mentioned above, LearningFuze often partners with other organizations to offer scholarships to its students. For example, the BeSmartee Women In Tech Scholarship and Mentorship program made it possible for a student who wouldn’t have otherwise been able to enter the tech field to attend LearningFuze’s full-time web development program.
Be sure to talk to an admissions representative about which financing option works best for you, and whether you may qualify for one of the school’s upcoming scholarship offerings.
LearningFuze Job Placement: Endless Support
LearningFuze’s career services are integrated throughout the program, with support continuing even after you’ve graduated. The school prepares students to transition into a new job hunt during the program with multiple resume revisions, personalized response to the “Tell Me About Yourself” question, two different LinkedIn workshops, two mock interviews, a portfolio week, multiple demo days, unlimited one to one coaching, and more.
After graduation, students gain access to LearningFuze’s large employer network and alumni network as well. Depending on the cohort, LearningFuze places between 40 to 60 percent of alumni with companies on average.
You can also continue your education after graduation with free and discounted courses. Data science graduates, for example, can continue their education with a free module from the web development part-time course to round out their skillset.
As you enter the workforce, you’ll have the opportunity to join rapidly-growing fields with attractive entry-level salaries. LearningFuze’s web development graduates tend to land jobs as software engineers, web developers, junior software developers, and more.
UX graduates most often find jobs as UX developers, UX/UI designers, product designers, and UX designers. BLS expects this field to grow by eight percent by 2029, and entry-level designers can expect a salary of around $63,706, according to PayScale.
A Path to Success With LearningFuze
With amazing career support, an industry-ready curriculum, a vast hiring network, and strong career services at an affordable cost, LearningFuze can put you in a great position to start a new career.
