But, we’ll let the data speak for themselves.
Read on as we look back on how Lighthouse Labs fared in the year that was and what you can expect moving forward.
Lighthouse Labs’ Milestones in 2021
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced different sectors across the globe to change how they operate. With the rising demand for qualified tech talents as organizations embrace digital transformation, bootcamps like Lighthouse Labs had to double their efforts to meet these needs.
Lighthouse Labs’ CEO, Jeremy Shaki, shares, “When the world shifted in 2020, we were prepared from a tech and education perspective to go online. However, our students who had to endure the rigor of a bootcamp weren’t necessarily prepared for life to shift so drastically.”
Not everyone was used to the concept of studying online on a full-time schedule. Many found themselves unequipped in dealing with the isolation and the loss of motivation to learn. On top of that, working students and professionals looking to further their studies were hounded by the constant stress brought by financial difficulties due to job loss.
Taking these into consideration, Lighthouse Labs spearheaded several initiatives to help aspiring tech professionals.
Scholarships and Student Support Initiatives
One of the initiatives that Lighthouse Labs implemented is setting up a COVID-19 Scholarship Fund in 2020 for students in Canada who were affected by the pandemic crisis. Initially budgeting $500,000, the scholarship fund soon ballooned to $1.5 million and has now benefitted over 100 students.
Jeremy adds, “…We built a lot of intentional social engagements, adjusted how our staff interacted with students and gave our staff more time off—personal days, mental health benefits, fun days—so they felt more refreshed to handle the real-life challenges of our students.”
“We continue to work on initiatives to help our students, but it all starts with having an incredible team of staff who makes sure everyone who comes to Lighthouse Labs feels like they are being taught in a personalized manner as opposed to as just part of a system.”
The bootcamp’s WebFlex program was also introduced in response to the clamor for a more flexible way to learn. And to further increase access to the program, Lighthouse Labs launched the Flex Scholarship.
The scholarship aims to help professionals who worked in industries severely impacted by the pandemic. They include former employees in retail, travel and tourism, hospitality, and manufacturing, to name a few. Eligible Flex Scholarship recipients receive a $3,500 scholarship to cover a portion of the Web Development Flex Program. For reference, enrolling in the WebFlex program costs $14,000.
With a comprehensive curriculum, all-around support, and a highly accessible method of delivery, Lighthouse Labs has remained steadfast in providing the best tech training to fit the evolving needs of students and the tech industry.
The result? A consistently positive performance.
High Job Placement Rate Among Lighthouse Labs Grads
Despite the challenging terrain that Lighthouse Labs had to navigate in the past years, the bootcamp was able to deliver positive results on all fronts.
Its Web Development Bootcamp graduates gained a three percent increase from 2020, with 492 graduates. And among its job-seeking grads, 90 percent landed a job within 180 days after graduation. The majority of them now work full-time as backend developers, front-end developers, full-stack developers, Shopify developers, and QA engineers, to name a few.
As for its Data Bootcamp, two years since its launch, the number of graduates has more than doubled in 2021. Lighthouse Labs boasts a 91 percent employment rate among its job-seeking data bootcamp graduates, with 86 percent receiving job offers within 180 days of graduation. Among the roles they have taken include data analysts, data scientists, and machine learning specialists.
Overall, web development bootcamp and data bootcamp graduates averaged 96 percent and 91 percent employment rates 180+ days post-graduation, respectively. An impressive feat in both disciplines considering the fierce competition in the job market.
Lighthouse Labs Graduates Earn an Average Salary of $54,000+
Eager to hire the best talent, organizations increased the perks and benefits they offer in the hopes of attracting the most highly qualified tech professionals.
Case in point, almost half of Lighthouse Labs’ web development bootcamp job-seeking graduates in 2021 received an average annual starting salary of $54,450 compared to $50,564 in 2020.
Data bootcamp graduates also reported securing jobs that pay an average starting salary of $56,505. Some graduates from both bootcamps who were employed by well-established companies raked in over $70,000.
